Oh, how I love a diagonal design on a card! When I sat down to play with this page of the gorgeous Come to Gather Designer Series Paper, I knew I’d have to offset the horizontal and vertical lines with a diagonal band. The rest just fell into place for me. Here’s my sweet-and-simple “give thanks” card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Harvest Hellos and Come to Gather. From the moment I first saw the Harvest Hellos Bundle, I knew I’d be using it lots. I love the sentiments in the set, but I really love the versatility of the images and coordinating punch. Whether you want apples or pumpkins, this set will give you just what you want. Here’s a look at the Harvest Hellos Bundle:
And here’s a look at the gorgeous colors and patterns in the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper that serves as the base for my card:
- A Bit of a Slant. I love this woven pattern from the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper – all of the strands of color are woven in a straight up-and-down pattern. To break up that symmetry a bit, I created a thick banner and positioned it at an angle on my card. Although my pumpkin is positioned straight on the card, my sentiment follows the line of the slanted banner. Here’s a closer look:
I used diagonals and slants a lot to add interest to a card. Earlier this year, I created a tutorial of how to build a perfect diagonal and shared a parade of 10 cards with diagonal designs. You can see that post here:
- Gourd-geous Color Combination. Don’t you just love the mix of colors in the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper?! What a beautiful mix for Fall! I pulled several colors from the background onto my card – Pretty Peacock (the card base and sentiment), Cajun Craze (the borders) and Pear Pizzazz (the leaf). Although Terracotta Tile isn’t represented in the background plaid, I created my pumpkin in this soft rust color. If you like this combination of Terracotta Tile, Cajun Craze and Pretty Peacock, please save this:

Love the pattern paper on your card, Brian, it gives an optical illusion that looks like a weave, so beautiful with all of those lovely, warm colors.
A beautiful background for your little pumpkin, so sweet.
Thank you for sharing.

I agree that this Happy Harvest Bundle is fun . So many ways to use the images . Also it is double fun to mix it with this designer paper . So many patterns to choose from is in itself a creative adventure !
Would it be safe to say that your diagonal line choices might be LEFT BRAIN tendencies ….giggle !!
It’s such a fun bundle – I couldn’t agree more. I was thinking the same as you (except I thought the diagonals were my right brain coming in to break up the symmetry a bit). 🙂 You always make me laugh, Sonny! ♥
