As soon as I saw Chrissy Larson’s sketch for this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge, I knew what I’d be making. Things didn’t exactly come out as planned, but I’m still happy with the finished product. My card features the Under My Umbrella Bundle (part of Stampin’ Up!’s January – June 2020 Mini Catalog) and the Pleased as Punch Designer Series Paper, new paper available to customers on February 4. Here’s my card:
And here’s the banner for Chrissy’s sketch that inspired my card:
- Under My Umbrella. Umbrellas are a perfect element for Spring-themed projects – April rains, wedding showers and baby showers come to mind. For this card, I made an umbrella that gives you comfort from the pouring rain. Such a perfect way to show your gratitude to a friend or offer support to someone who’s hurting. How sweet! Here’s a look at the Under My Umbrella Bundle:
And here’s a closer look at my punched umbrella:
You won’t find this umbrella in the stamp set (even though you’ll find a similar shape that works well with the Umbrella Builder Punch. That’s because the umbrella on my card is punched directly from the Pleased as Punch Designer Series Paper (and layered on a corresponding, punched piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock).
- Pleased as Punch. Pleased as Punch is an ADORABLE pack of Designer Series Papers that will be released to customers on February 4. The paper pairs with the Under My Umbrella Bundle and gives us some beautiful umbrellas to punch out. The papers also coordinate with the Small Bloom Punch (Sale-a-Bration), the Heart Punch Pack and the Tulip Builder Punch. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this pack of papers:
Starting in February, Stampin’ Up! is kicking off a Coordination Product Release during which you can buy dies and papers that coordinate with items found in this year’s Sale-a-Bration brochure and January – June 2020 Mini Catalog. Demonstrators can buy these items now (and even add them to their Starter Kit when they sign up). You can see all of the items offered in the Coordination Product Release that kicks off in February here:
There are some incredible offerings in this two page release. The new items have changed my mind about how much I need some things from Sale-a-Bration and the Mini Catalog. How about you? Incentive to plan ahead? ♥ What fun!
- Sweet Color Combination. My card features three colors that are pulled right from the Pleased as Punch Designer Series Paper. If you like this combination of Blushing Bride, Balmy Blue and Daffodil Delight, please save this for future reference:
Bundles: Under My Umbrella Stamp Sets: Under My Umbrella Papers: Pleased as Punch Designer Series Paper, Balmy Blue, Daffodil Delight, Thick Whisper White Inks: Tuxedo Black Memento Accessories: Umbrella Builder Punch, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Detailed Hearts Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals
Why? Why didn’t this card turn out exactly like I wanted? I’m happy to tell you now that you’ve taken it all in. I had a very clear vision of the dry space under the umbrella and how comforting it would feel. Instead, it looks almost like the umbrella is an alien ship that’s beaming up something from the land below. I think it’s because there’s so much space on the card between the umbrella and the bottom corner, but sometimes you just have to go with what you’ve got. 🙂
I hope you’ll pop over to the CAS(E) This Sketch site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!
Brian
