Celebrate with Pleased as Punch

It rarely snows in Atlanta – but when it does, we make national news. We had snow in Atlanta yesterday! I was folding laundry upstairs when I first saw it coming down. My first thought was – I need to get downstairs and make a card in case we get snowed it (I have to walk across the back deck and down the stairs to get to the Fungeon where all my supplies are). Here’s a photo of our side yard and the creek that runs through the back yard after the quick fall of snow:

Atlanta snow, Brian King Atlanta snow, Brian KingThe snow didn’t last long (it turned to rain by mid-afternoon), but it was pretty while it was here. AND it inspired me to make a bright, cheery card that I’m happy to share with you today. Here’s the card I cranked out while I was worried about being snowed in:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Above the Clouds. I love a good Stampin’ Up! Bundle (each one gives us a 10% discount on both the stamp set and coordinating dies/punch. I really, really love a photopolymer stamp set and punch bundle – they are so easy to use and less expensive than their counterparts. When I was contemplating my snow day, I knew a hot air balloon would play great with the soft, sweet colors in the Designer Series Paper I had chosen for this project. Here’s a look at the Above the Clouds Bundle (which includes the Above the Clouds stamp set and coordinating Balloon Builder Punch):Above the Clouds Bundle, Stampin' Up! 151135It’s easy to forget all the Spring- and Summer-themed bundles from the Annual Catalog, but they are still offered at a 10% discount and earn Sale-a-Bration rewards. This is a great bundle! ♥
  • Pleased as Punch. I’m Pleased as Punch with the new Product Coordination Release that includes the Pleased as Punch Designer Series Paper. The sweet Spring colors and images in this paper coordinate with punches from the January – June 2020 Mini Catalog and Sale-a-Bration brochure (Umbrella Builder, Heart Punch Pack, Tulip Builder Punch and Small Bloom Punch). Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this incredible pack of papers: Pleased as Punch Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up! 153558I’ve loved this striped page from the moment I first saw this paper – the colors are gorgeous. I cut the paper to showcase all six of the colors in the paper and stamped the sentiment right on the Designer Series Paper:Above the Clouds, Happy Birthday to You, Stampin Up!, Brian King
  • Happy Birthday. The sentiment on my card – “celebrate” – is perfect on this paper and with this balloon. I love the handwritten font. It’s pulled from the Happy Birthday to You stamp set, one of the products you can select for free with a $50 purchase during Sale-a-Bration. Here’s a look at the Happy Birthday to You stamp set:  Happy Birthday to You, Stampin Up! Sale-a-Bration 152308Once you earn the stamp set, you’ll certainly want to pick up the Birthday Dies. The newly released, coordinating dies brilliantly coordinate with this set. Buy the dies – and you’re half way to earning the stamp set for free! Brilliant! 1. Wow! Snow in Atlanta is a rarity and fun when there’s no shoveling involved. Actually that is about as much snow as we’ve had in Delaware this winter and that is fine with me. I love the DSP you chose to go with the sweet balloon. It makes a great card. Enjoy your day!

  2. What cheery colors ! I have not gotten that paper yet …gasp . Which is funny since I am a DSP LOVER !! I think your card is sorta magical in feeling . Guess I have another order to do !!
Yes, we had snow in Charlotte most of the mid day . Beautiful ! Snow showers which did not stick . Thank Goodness ! We do not do snow well here ! But Feb. is our snow month !

  3. Lovin’ the snow. We didn’t get any so far in Tucson (but it’s been quite cold compared to normal). Fabulous card and shows off the sweet stripes of the paper!

  4. Oh Brian – wish you could be here to see what the aftermath of a real snowstorm looks like. LOL Love your card – nice bright and cheery colors lead to a forbearing of the spring to come……………eventually. LOL Thanks so much for sharing the beautiful photos of your yard and, as always, a great card.

  5. Love the layering of the strips of DSP on the background..lovely card! Very cool that you got some pretty snow for a short time and not just slush! I laid out in the sun by the pool here in Orlando yesterday while I was thinking about your snow-ha!

  6. Love that new DSP! Very pretty card! And I love you had snow……just a bit to make it officially winter! It is snowing here as I type….yep officially winter up north!

  7. The first snow is always beautiful, I remember (being from MI}, now living in CA, at best we only get hail. Your yard looks wonderful, and your card takes you away to a beautiful spring day! The colors pop!

  8. Love the card. Made me think I can actually make it until spring, despite the latest 11 inch desposit and more due midweek. The DSP is just perfect to raise spirits (& a balloon!) Thanks for sharing.

  9. Brian, I like your first response to make a card. Once when our daughter was in college at UGA in Athens, it snowed and went sledding on cafeteria trays.

  10. It’s nice to have a beautiful snowy day. It makes everything so quiet and beautiful! It’s perfect crafting weather. I love the card your snow day inspired.

  11. I remember the year we moved to Atlanta, 1993, hey said it rarely snowed in Atlanta. But we had 12″ of snow that winter in one day. We lived on Houston Mill Road just up from Emory and our backyard sloped down to the creek. Of course, no shovel, no electricity, but it was beautiful. I miss the beautiful woods and scenery, but not the occasional snow, in Atlanta. Thanks for sharing Brian!

  12. It’s snowing here in Maine and I love seeing snow in Atlanta!!! You have a beautiful backyard Brian…so much inspiration on your way to the Fungeon! Were you dreaming of floating away from the cold in that hot air balloon?
