Because of everything going on in the world today, I wasn’t able to see Mom yesterday to celebrate Mother’s Day with her. In the middle of this pandemic, Mom moved to upstate South Carolina to be closer to immediate family (she’s a block away from my little brother and now 2-1/2 hours closer to me). She’s settling in to her new home, and I really, really want to visit her, but it just doesn’t make sense right now. That said, we FaceTimed for a bit yesterday, and I’m happy to report that she’s well and in really good spirits. My Mom has a brilliant sense of humor and always makes me chuckle.
I also spent some time this weekend putting away my new products from my demonstrator pre-order from Stampin’ Up!’s 2020 Annual Catalog and pulling down some retiring favorites. It wasn’t until yesterday afternoon that I realized Thanks for the Laughs is retiring on June 2. Oh, how I love this whimsical stamp set! Since I shared so many laughs with Mom on the phone for Mother’s Day, I wanted to give this stamp set another spin. Here’s my card:
I used my sketch for this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge as the basis for my card. Here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired it:
- Thanks for the Laughs. Thanks for the Laughs runs the gamut of everything we feel in a wonderful relationship – whether it’s with our best friend, close family or coworker (the sentiment I used today could also work well on a card for my boss at work). I love that some are complimentary, some are sweet and others have a touch of naughty. Here’s a look at the sentiments in Thanks for the Laughs – please read through them all before you decide you don’t need it (because you might, and it’s going away):
The big, bold sentiment works well as the focal point of my card, using the sketch I designed for this week’s challenge. Here’s the card I shared for the sketch when it went live on Thursday (you can click on the photo to read the original post for this card):
- Country Club. This gorgeous argyle print from the Country Club Designer Series Paper is a perfect backdrop for this sentiment, don’t you think? In the context of the Country Club Designer Series Paper, this diamond-shaped pattern is a preppy argyle pattern. For my card, though, I embraced the harlequin look of the paper. Don’t you think it has the feel of that naughty, fun-loving character?
Here’s a look at the colors and designs in the Country Club Designer Series Paper, which is also retiring on June 2 or when supplies run out:
When I originally played with this sentiment, I showcased it on a black-and-white striped paper, playfully alluding to prison stripes. You can click on this picture to read my original post for this card:
- Layer Measurements. The layers on today’s card are very simple and great for a quick-and-easy card, so I want to share them with you. Here are the measurements for this card, starting with the base and working my way up to the sentiment:
- Night of Navy – 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
- Poppy Parade – 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″
- Whisper White – 3-1/2″ x 3-5/8″
- Country Club Designer Series Paper – 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
- Thick Whisper White – 2-1/4″ Circle Punch
Stamp Sets: Thanks for the Laughs Papers: Country Club Designer Series Paper, Night of Navy, Poppy Parade, Whisper White, Thick Whisper White Inks: Poppy Parade Accessories: 2-1/4″ Circle punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the CAS(E) This Sketch site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!

The perfect sentiment and card to celebrate humor and friendship!
A cute card that will bring a smile to the recipient’s face. Glad to hear you got some face-time with your mother. I’m sure she will enjoy being closer to family and to you. Enjoy your day!
Fun card! Love the print. Tell Mom hi from me!
This is just a PERFECT looking card my frien.
🙂 Thanks, Kadie! I just love this diamond print. Sad to see it go so had to give it another whirl. ♥
Love that bright argyle pattern! And that sentiment makes me smile! So glad your mom is closer and has settled into her new place!
What a blessing that your mom is closer to her sons! I too like the sentiments in this set. Humor is always a good thing, especially now!
Brian — I’m so glad your mother’s doing well & settling in the her new digs closer to family. Thanks for sharing you designs. I love the sentiment on the last card. It reminds of my semi-annual get togethers with my high school girlfriends. We graduated in 1975 & have the best time laughing with each other. Have a great week & thanks again for sharing.
