Comfort & Hope for Fab Friday

I just can’t stay away from Pretty Peacock – depending on what colors and textures it’s paired with, this 2019-2021 In Color can be energizing one minute and warm the next. When combined with all the greens in the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper, Pretty Peacock is calm and comforting. Here’s my card that features Pretty Peacock:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Forever Greenery. I love working with colors, and it’s always a special treat when an incredibly beautiful pack of Designer Series Papers is created to pull together the most beautiful colors in the spectrum. Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper focuses on greens – Garden Green, Just Jade, Pear Pizzazz, Pretty Peacock, Shaded Spruce and Soft Sea Foam. What a gorgeous mix. • Comfort & Hope. The sentiment on my card is stamped with the Comfort & Hope stamp set and cropped with a die from the Stitched Rectangles Dies. In addition to the beautiful “comfort & hope” I featured on my card, the set is filled some really great sympathy sentiments and other ways to let someone know you are thinking of them – “know that I love and care about you,” “sometimes there are no words,” and “sending you a paper hug.” Here’s a look at this new stamp set: Comfort & Hope, Stampin Up! 152509I framed the simple sentiment with a large heart from the Stitched Be Mine dies:Comfort & Hope, Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian King, sympathy card
  • Panel Layers. The FabFriday sketch calls for two panels that rest on top of each other and that are positioned slightly askew. Because I featured two designs from Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper (these two are actually the front and back of one page), I exaggerated the degree to which the panels are offset and framed each with Thick Whisper White cardstock. I started with 4″ x 5-1/4″ panels and then whittled away at them (1/4″ at a time) until I found the measurements I wanted to showcase this paper. The final panels are 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″.

  1. Love your card Brian, Forever Greenery is my favorite DSP. I love that we have so many greens that coordinate with this paper! It can be made masculine or feminine.

    • Couldn’t agree more, Katrina! The addition of Pretty Peacock in these papers make me so, so happy. I will be using this paper a lot – so happy for it. ♥

  2. I like how you framed the 2 DSP papers with Thick Whisper White cardstock. It POPS the images on the card SO much more. Whisper White is normally NOT my “go to” color for framing papers, but in this case it is the perfect combination.

    • Thank you so much, Carol! I use Whisper White as a frame more then any other (likely because I like a dark base for the card). Before the white frames, the card felt a little flat – glad you like it with the frames. Thanks for your comments.

  3. I LOVE that gorgeous paper and bold peacock heart. Sweet stitches around “comfort and hope!”

  4. So beautiful……that DSP just came yesterday…rich in beauty. Love this card.

  5. Perfect card! Love the DSP background. I made three cards yesterday and reached for Pretty Peacock every time. On the third time, I put it back and reminded myself I had a new color-Just Jade- to use instead!

  6. This card has such a calm feel Brian. It will definitely bring comfort to someone (as well as all your readers!) Have a great weekend.

  7. I love this sweet card, Brian. This pretty DSP is my favorite. Enjoy your day!

  8. Your card share for today is truly calm and comforting. WOW!!!

  9. Great card, great sentiment, something we all need in these times.

  10. Wow this is so beautiful! That paper is so elegant and you showcased it perfectly!
