So Very Merry for the Be Inspired Blog Hop

It’s time for another Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop – what fun! The Be Inspired Design Team is a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from all over the world who are excited to share our themed projects with you. I’m so honored to be a part of this group of talented stampers!

For today’s Be Inspired Blog Hop, we are sharing projects that showcase our favorite punches. If you aren’t starting the hop here, then you probably just popped over from the amazing project shared by my talented friend Manuela Geiswinkler.

SO VERY MERRY

Always a favorite tool in the Fungeon (my craft space), I reach for punches to crop out images or sentiments all the time. I don’t often use punches as the centerpiece of a project, so I gave myself that additional challenge today. I pulled five punches from my stash to build the sweet scene on this card:

Very Merry Snowman Builder Punch Christmas Card, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThe only ink on this card is the sentiment, which is stamped in Real Red ink with a sentiment from the Warm Hugs stamp set, part of the Warm Hugs Bundle. Here’s a look at this versatile and fun bundle:

Warm Hugs Bundle, Stampin Up! 155145The rest of the card is created with paper and punches – not my usual creation. With a blog hop about punches, though, I wanted to make sure I included a grand variety of punches (without overdoing it). Here’s a closer look at my little punch art scene:

Very Merry Snowman Builder Punch Christmas Card, Stampin Up!, Brian KingHere are the punches I used to build this simple scene:

  • Snowman Builder Punch (#150643). The three-tiered snowman is obviously from the Snowman Builder Punch, but the top hat, carrot nose and arms are also included in this fun punch. I cut a thin strip of Real Red cardstock and ran it through the punch, positioning it along the brim of the hat, to give an additional accent on the hat.
  • Pine Tree Punch (#149521). I added two pine trees to the scene behind the happy snowman. I cropped each with Pear Pizzazz cardstock and then cropped the tree trunks with Soft Suede and then glued them to the trees.
  • Whale Builder Punch (#152699). It doesn’t make sense that the Whale Builder Punch is represented on my sweet snowman, but it’s there! The three buttons on the snowman’s chest are punched with the whale’s eye, and the flourish in the snowman’s hat are punched with the water element in the Whale Builder Punch. Fun, right?
  • Umbrella Builder Punch (#151293). What snowman can walk without a cane?! If he’s going to get anywhere (or fight off any dog that tries to attack), he needs that cane that I cropped with the Umbrella Builder Punch – it’s just the right size for this snowman, don’t you think?
  • 2-1/4″ Circle Punch (#143720). The entire scene is capture inside (and hangs a little outside) a 2-1/4″ circle. I cropped the Pool Party circle first and then cropped a piece of Thick Whisper White along the edge of the paper to give myself a snowy floor for the snowman.

Here are all of the products I used on today’s card:

Stamp Sets: Warm Hugs  Papers: Pool Party, Night of Navy, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Suede, Basic Gray, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Blackberry Bliss, Cinnamon Cider, Thick Whisper White  Inks: Real Red  Accessories: Snowman Builder Punch, Pine Tree Punch, Whale Builder Punch, Umbrella Builder Punch, 2-1/4″ Circle Punch, Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals, Stampin’ Dimensionals
