With a Grateful Heart

It’s been a crazy week, and I’m grateful for Friday’s arrival. Not only have I found myself in a medical boot to address an inflamed Achilles’ tendon (ouch!), but my blog was hacked on Wednesday (double ouch!). Anyhow, my site has been scrubbed by the experts, and everything has been restored. Phew!

As we end this week on September 11, I’m reminded of how small my worries are and how grateful I am for the wonderful things in my life. While I feel miles away from the events of that day in 2001, I remember it like it was yesterday. While today’s simple card is decidedly “Thanksgiving-themed,” it shares the gratitude in my heart for the special people who gave so much on this day years ago (and the subsequent years). Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Two Seasonal Bundles. My simple card features two bundles from Stampin’ Up!’s August – December 2020 Mini Catalog. The sweet sentiment and banner are created with the Banner Year Bundle, a stamp set that gets us from Halloween to Valentine’s Day, and the coordinating Banners Pick a Punch, which offers two banner ends for three widths (1″, 3/4″ and 1/2″). Here’s a look at the Banner Year Bundle:Banner Year Bundle, Stampin Up! 155214The leaves and acorn that adorn the sentiment on my card are punched with the Autumn Punch Pack that’s part of the Beautiful Autumn Bundle. Here’s a look at this Bundle:Beautiful Autumn Bundle, Stampin Up! 155189While you can stamp the leaves and acorn to punch them out, I punched them straight from the Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper that coordinates with this gorgeous suite.
  • Two Designer Series Papers. There are two Designer Series Papers featured on the face of this simple card. I love when I can combine papers from two packs in a way that makes them seem like they were made for each other. Here’s a closer look:Banner Year Bundle, Plaid Tidings, Stampin Up! Brian KingAs I mentioned above, the leaves and acorn are cropped from the Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper – what a gorgeous pack!  Here’s a closer look at the colors and patterns in the Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper:Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up! 153520The punches work with the images on the first panel (with copper and gold images) and the last panel (with Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake and Mint Macaron images). I love when papers pair with punches! The The Crumb Cake and Whisper White plaid that makes up the focal panel of this card is from the Plaid Tidings 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, but you might not find it in the form I shared on my card. Here’s a closer look at the patterns and colors in this pack of papers: Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up! 153527To turn the perpendicular plaid paper (shown on the far, right side of the picture above) into a diagonal plaid, I simply positioned a Stitched Rectangles Die on the paper to change the direction of the lines on the panel I showcased on my card. Fun!
  • Fall Tones. Since you’ve soaked up all of my posts all week long, you know I’m basking in the beauty of the warm, Fall tones. While Early Espresso, Cajun Craze and Crumb Cake are the primary colors on this card, I most love the combination of Mint Macaron, Crumb Cake and Cajun Craze found in the trio of images to the left of the sentiment.
