I was itching to play with patterned papers yesterday, so I laid out a bunch of papers to find a combination I would like. I landed on the beautiful mix of two patterns from two sets of papers to form the backdrop for a sweet Christmas sentiment. Such fun! Here’s my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Two Great Christmas Sets. For today’s card, I combined a classic look (the tree from Winter Woods) with a modern look (the sentiment from Peace & Joy). It’s always risky to combine two different aesthetics, but I think these two work well together. Here’s a look at the classic Winter Woods stamp set:
The Winter Woods stamp set coordinates with the In The Woods Dies. While I didn’t showcase them here, I’ve used them a lot – and you’ll definitely need them. The sentiment is built with the Peace & Joy stamp set and coordinating Joy Dies – you can get both of them together as a bundle (with a 10% savings). Here’s a look at the Peace & Joy Bundle:
Here’s a closer look at this sentiment on the card:
- ‘Tis the Season for Plaid Tidings. If you love Designer Series Papers as much as I do, then you probably love to find ways to mix your papers for fun combinations. The base of my focal panel is the seventh pattern shown below in the ‘Tis the Season 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper – a piece of striped Shaded Spruce paper. Here’s a look at all the colors and patterns in the ‘Tis the Season 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper:
I added a strip of a Shaded Spruce and Pretty Peacock plaid pattern from the Plaid Tidings 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. Such a great pack – I really loved the regal tones in this casual plaid page (it’s the sixth pattern on the bottom row below). Here’s a look at all of the colors and patterns in the Plaid Tidings 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper:
- Rich Color Combination. Over the past year-and-a-half, I have fallen head-over-heals for Pretty Peacock. It’s just so … perfect. I’ve recently found how gorgeous it is with Shaded Spruce, so this plaid page was already in the stars for me to use. If you love this mix of Pretty Peacock and Shaded Spruce (with touches of Whisper White), I hope you’ll save this for future reference:
Bundles: Peace & Joy Stamp Sets: Winter Woods, Peace & Joy Papers: ‘Tis the Season 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, Plaid Tidings 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, Pretty Peacock, Thick Whisper White Inks: Shaded Spruce Accessories: Joy Dies, In the Woods Dies, All the Trimmings Embellishments, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals

It’s unbelievable to me Brian that you can mix DSPs that I would never, ever consider putting together and come out with such a fantastic combination that, together, enhance the beauty of the tree and word diecuts. You are artistically remarkable!!!!
