‘Tis the Season for Tag Buffet

Today I’m sharing a sweet-and-simple card with fun sentiment, Christmas stocking and a mix of beautiful, non-traditional colors for the Holiday. My 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ card will fit in a standard envelope (with a little bit of room on either side). While the post office charges more for a square envelope, they don’t charge more for a square card that’s tucked in a rectangular envelopes. Oh, joy! Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Tag Buffet. The stocking and sentiment on my card are from the Tag Buffet stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s August – December 2020 Mini Catalog. While the stamp set coordinates with a project kit in the catalog , it’s sold separately and can be used to create projects other than the tag kit. The best idea, though, is to pick up both so you can complete the tag kit and then make a bunch of other things with the stamps. Look at you – being so productive! ♥ Here’s a look at the fun sentiments and images in the Tag Buffet stamp set:Tag Buffet, Stampin Up! 153612Here’s a look at the components in the Tag Buffet Project Kit, which makes 30 festive tags:Tag Buffet Project Kit, Stampin Up! 153649And here’s a look at the samples featured in the catalog that are created with this stamp set and Project Kit. • Layer Measurements. As I mentioned above, this 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ card can fit in a standard envelope for standard mailing prices. Yay! Since it’s a simple, layered card that can be replicated with your own stamps and papers, I thought I share with you the measurements I used to build it. Here are the measurements of the layers, starting at the base of the card and working my way to the top:
    • Thick Whisper White – 4-1/4″ x 8-1/2″ (scored at 4-1/4″)
    • Stampin’ Dimensionals
    • Real Red – 3-3-4″ x 3-3/4″
    • Brights 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (Coastal Cabana) – 3-5/8″ x 3-5/8″
    • Stampin’ Dimensionals
    • Real Red – 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″
    • Whisper White – 2-5/8″ x 2-5/8″
  • Trio of Christmas Colors. As I mentioned above, the layers on my card are simple and fun. The stocking was stamped on the Whisper White panel and again on Real Red and Coastal Cabana and Thick Whisper White. I snipped the pieces with my paper snips and layered them on my Real Red stocking. With a little planning, I also made sure the sentiment rolled right over to the Real Red stocking. Good morning, Brian!
Hmm ? Interesting that you making a square card showcasing this stamp set made me think about turning the tag set into 30 cards using alternative ideas.
I do love your choice of WW, Real Red, and Coastal Cabana … it is a favorite of mine, that’s for sure!
Thanks for another great blog post! Have a great week.

    • Thank you so much, Suzie! I really appreciate your thoughts – it would be fun to make these elements into cards. I might have to take that challenge. 🙂

  2. What a GREAT color combination my friend. LOVE Coastal Cabana and Real Red together. Perfect little card to make for this holiday season.

  3. Such a fun kit ! Lots of “STUFF” to play with not only for tags ,but cards and whatever ! Thank you for showing it because I kinda by passed it .
Might have to get this one !

  4. Adorable how you layered the sentiment and love the pop of blue.

  5. Love the color combination, Brian, on this adorable card. Love the font of this stamp set. Enjoy your day!

  6. So festive… the polka dots make it so fun!

    • Thanks, Windy! The card didn’t “come together” for me until the polka dotted paper. Then I kind of wished I’d included the dots in the heal and toe of the stocking. 🙂

  7. Perfect! That set has been a bit of a challenge for me and now I see how well the square card works! Yummy colors too. You are brilliant!

    • The ornament and stocking, in my view, just have to float in the middle of the card – it’s hard to anchor those images. That’s how I ended up with a square card. 🙂 Thanks, Wendie! Always wonderful to hear from you.

  8. Great little card! I love the color combo and I especially love the way the sentiment drapes over the stocking! Perfection!!

    • Thanks so much, Elisha! I always try to have one little wow on each card. That overlapping sentiment was that element here. 🙂 So glad you like it! ♥

  9. Ditto to all the above comments! I don’t know why I passed up this kit but now I need to rethink it. I love it when I can make the to/from tags for the gifts I have purchased but too often I don’t take the time to do that. I think that will be one of my New Year’s resolutions this year. Much easier to keep then dieting! LOL Thanks Brian.

    • Thanks, Grace! It’s really a great kit with so many fun elements. I really, really like the stamp set, though. Had fun with this simple card. There’s still time. 🙂

  10. Love this color combination, Brian. This card is so clean and fresh and very festive. It’s a “happy” card!

    • Thanks so much, Debbie! I’ve always been a fan of aqua and red – yet every time I create with it, I feel like it’s all brand new again. 🙂 ♥

  11. Love these colors together! Cute card!
