I love a beautiful background – a sweet sentiment needs nothing more if it’s supported by a beautiful backdrop. Designer Series Papers make me so happy (and always give me a beautiful background for a card), but I really love when I can stamp a beautiful background on my own. There are only a handful of background stamps currently available, and the Wild Roses Background is currently my favorite. Here’s my card:
- Wild Roses. Did you know that background stamps are all offered in red rubber – and that you can have your choice of cling mount or wood mount? These are the only stamps currently offered with a wood mount block. I used to be a big fan of the large wood blocks, but I get my background stamps in cling mount now so I can use them with my Stamparatus. The Stamparatus makes it easy to ink and stamp – and you have more than one chance to get all the ink everywhere you want it. Here’s a look at the Wild Roses Background stamp:
Isn’t that a gorgeous design?! This stamp isn’t prominently featured in the January – June 2021 Mini Catalog, and you might pass by it because it might look a little dreary in the gray and black tones that show us the design. It’s important to remember, though, that we add ink to the stamp set and can make it all sorts of colors. I passed both my Night of Navy and my Magenta Madness panels through my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, cutting right in the center of each with Stitched Rectangles Dies:
- Happy Thoughts. As I mentioned above, you don’t need much on a card if you’ve got a beautiful sentiment and a beautiful backdrop for that saying. How beautiful is the “thinking of you” sentiment I used on this card? I love it! The sweet sentiment is pulled from the Happy Thoughts stamp set, new in Stampin’ Up!’s January – June 2021 Mini Catalog.
Not only are there great sentiments for the front of cards, but each simple sentiment is paired with a sentiment for the inside of the card. In fact, all of the sentiments can be used on the outside of a card. Here’s a look at this wonderful stamp set:
- Color Combination. Magenta Madness is one of the 2020-2022 In Colors. It’s bright and bold and perfectly pink. I’m continuously surprised by how many colors this pink pairs with – how fun! I love it with the sophisticated Night of Navy, a rich blue that beautifully pairs with nearly every color in the Stampin’ Up! families. If you like this mix of Basic White, Magenta Madness and Night of Navy as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:
Stamp Sets: Wild Roses, Happy Thoughts Papers: Night of Navy, Thick Basic White Inks: Night of Navy, Magenta Madness Accessories: Stitched Rectangles Dies, 2-1/4″ Circle punch, Layering Circles Dies, Stamparatus, Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, Stampin’ Dimensionals

So awesome, Brian!!! It’s almost like the “spotlight” effect but way more impactful! I love it!
