You’re Amazing!

When the Holidays are over (don’t panic – we still have lots of time to prepare for Christmas!), we are often left with a pile of Christmas papers that are difficult to use throughout the following year. With a little creativity, though, we can transform those Holiday papers and use them in our other projects. I converted a striped pattern from the Gingerbread & Peppermint 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper to a celebratory card with no hint of Christmas. Here’s my card:

Counting Sheep, Gingerbread & Peppermint Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThe focal panel on this card started as a Real Red and Old Olive striped panel from the Gingerbread & Peppermint 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this festive pack of papers:

Gingerbread & Peppermint, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThe pattern I used is the second from the right on the top row above. By simply adding color with my Light Night of Navy Stampin’ Blend and Light Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend, I altered the Christmasy pattern to be used for a non-Christmasy project. Here’s a closer look:

Counting Sheep, Gingerbread & Peppermint Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThe “You’re Amazing!” on my card is the OH-SO-VERSATILE sentiment from the Counting Sheep stamp set, one of the products you can select with a $50 order during Stampin’ Up!’s August-December Sale-a-Bration. I LOVE this sentiment and LOVE this font. Here’s a look at this stamp set:

Counting Sheep, Stampin Up! 156591I layered my sentiment with a larger circle of Vellum Cardstock, allowing the pattern to peek from behind. I often use Vellum Cardstock to fill space on a card and to add an interesting, new element.

  7. Like others have said, you’re pretty amazing yourself! The paper is unrecognizable to the original. You have a keen eye for color! Such a good reminder to look at our papers with other options in mind.

    • Thanks, Sharon! I don’t think anyone who received this card would think “it looks like Christmas.” I’m going to have to look at my other Christmas papers to see how additional colors can make them more versatile. Thanks!
