Do you remember the Rice Krispies commercial where the mom “works so hard” in the kitchen to make a simple snack. She flips a little flour into the air and walks out of the kitchen with an exhausted look on her face. Her family has no idea the snacks were hardly a chore to make, so she gets tons of credit for the amazing task. There’s something wonderful about something that’s SO EASY to make but that looks like it took a long, long time to complete. As long as it feels special to the recipient, then I’m happy. Today’s card is a simple, simple card that looks like I put a lot of effort into it – score! Here’s my card:
The large circle at the center of my card is cropped straight from a gorgeous sheet of the New Horizons 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. I found another page of Fresh Freesia water coloring on one of the pages that made a perfect frame for my focal image. Here’s a look at the page I used at the center of my card:
Not only did I crop the landscape from this page of papers, but I cropped the additional greenery from the same panel of green at the base of this page and layered it along the horizon of this meadow. I stamped the birds and sentiment with the On the Horizon stamp set. Such small additions for a very big effect.
I was struck by the beautiful blend of tones that make up the sky in this watercolored landscape. While there touches of Polished Pink and Pale Papaya in this mix, I’m in love with the combination of Fresh Freesia, Calypso Coral and Bumblebee in this piece of paper. If you like this mix as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:
There are so many different colors and beautiful landscapes in the pages of this paper. Here’s a look at the other colors and patterns in the New Horizons 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper:
You can’t understand how gorgeous these pages are until you hold the papers in your hand and flip through them. It felt like an impossible task to pick one page to be the first for me to showcase.
Here’s a look at the On the Horizon Bundle that beautifully coordinates with the gorgeous paper:
Bundles: On the Horizonย Stamp Sets: On the Horizonย Papers: New Horizons 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, Blackberry Bliss, Thick Basic Whiteย Inks: Blackberry Blissย Accessories: Horizon Dies, Layering Circles Dies, Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Beauiful layering and colors! I love when the DSP does all the work! ๐
Love the simplicity of the pretty scene. The paper is the bomb!
Brian,
Love your card today! Canโt wait to get my hands on that paper!
I’m crazy about your color combination Brian. Thanks for sharing!
This isn’t just a card whether it’s simple or not. It’s a piece of art and it is
phenomenal!!!! I would frame this card for sure. Did you get the point that I LOVE it? LOL You never cease to amaze me Brian.
Great analogy and card!
Pretty card Brian! Love your story. : ) Hope you enjoy the day. It’s snowing like crazy here in Maine…so beautiful!
Brian this is truly a case of less is more!!! Great job my friend.
Love, love, love this beautiful card, Brian. I think I may have to get another pack of this paper just to keep for handling. It is gorgeous! Enjoy your day!
The DSP this time around is just gorgeous and you are a master at showing it off! Gorgeous card! And can I just say there hasn’t been Rice Krispies on the shelves here for months! First world problem I know but I miss them!
This didn’t start out as my favorite DSP from the catalog but playing with it has moved it to the top of the list for me. Thanks for showcasing the versatility, elegance and cleverness of this amazing paper~ Your card is all that and a bag of chips. Brilliant use of the “back side” of one of the papers for the backing mat, BTW. Love this!
BRAVO ! The MINUTE I saw this suite, I couldn’t wait to get it home. This paper and the stamps and dies are so amazing! I’ve made several cards with just the paper already, but I really love what you’ve done here. Having that paper peek through the circle really showcases its beauty. And what a great idea to use another piece for an additional layer. Stunning, my friend!
Brian, I CASED your card with some changes. Loved it. Thank you for the inspiration.
Simple and stunning! Love it Brian!
