Yesterday I hosted my monthly Zoom call with my Paper Pumpkin customers – our December meeting had to be moved because of the Holidays. During our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call, I share some fun ideas with the items included in the monthly kit, and my customers share their brilliant ideas. It’s always such fun to see what others are making and to spend that time with my customers who participate. I hosted a similar call with my InKing Royalty team members to share with them, too. Such fun!
Today I’m sharing some alternative projects with this last month’s Lots of Pun kit – an adorable kit with some really great images and sayings. Here’s a look a the finished projects from the December 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit:
Cute, right?! If you make the projects as designed, you end up with nice super-cute cards with fun, little puns. They are perfect cards to have on-hand for feel better cards or just fun hellos.
Here’s a look at the stamp set that came with the other elements of this kit:
I’m often skeptical of things that are supposed to be funny (because they aren’t always funny). Some of these are really funny, and some are so corny that they are wonderful. I really enjoyed playing with these stamps and the elements of this kit. Today I’m sharing some alternative projects with you.
Egg-celent
From the moment the Layering Diorama Dies made their way into my home, I’ve been waiting for the right way to turn one of those wavy dies into a fried egg. The Lots of Pun Paper Pumpkin gave me the permission I needed with a perfect sentiment for a fried egg. Here’s a card I made with the Layering Diorama Dies and some elements of the Lots of Pun kit:
The Layering Diorama Dies came in handy with this card – I was so happy to have this sentiment to pair with my egg. Here’s a look at the Layering Diorama Dies (you see eggs, right?):
I Loaf You
I adore so many of the fun puns in the Lots of Pun stamp set, part of the December 2021 Paper Pumpkin Kit. The one that most melts my heart, though, is “I LOAF YOU” – perfect for Valentine’s Day and pairs perfectly with bread. I pulled some elements from the kit and a Poppy Parade heart (cropped with the Heart Punch Pack) to create a little collage of fun elements that are perfect for Valentine’s Day. Here’s my card:
Totally cute, right? Even the little Poppy Parade hearts helped to support my Valentine’s Day theme.
I Pick You
When I look at the egg in the Lots of Pun stamp set (see above), I don’t see an egg. The shape (as I see it) is somewhere between an amoeba and a flower, so I used a strip of Thick Basic White cardstock, my Delightful Tag Topper and a mix of Stampin’ Blends (Poppy Parade, Balmy Blue, Pale Papaya and Daffodil Delight) to make a bookmark with a flurry of retro-flowers. Here’s the tag:
“I PICK YOU” perfectly coordinates with the cherries or banana in the kit, but it also works with flowers. The twine on the top of the tag is pulled right from the Lots of Pun Kit. What fun!
Trio of Notecards
I used the elements of the kit (and some cardstock from my stash) to make three note cards that showcase some of the fun images and sentiments from this kit. Here’s a look at all three:
The layouts of these cards are very similar to the suggested projects in the kit – I just moved some things around and changed-up the mix of elements. Here’s a closer look at each one:

Amazing. What you did with the layering diorama dies has met smiling!
I love your alternative designs, Brian. You are so clever to use the layering diorama dies. These are great ideas. Enjoy your day!
Love the alternatives..thanks for the inspiration! I need to pull mine out this week!
Very cute puns Brian, your colorful egg design is very retro!
I LOAF what you have done with these cards . Great ideas to CASE ! I have the set ,but have not used it yet. Might be fun to use on some ATC cards !
All your cards look like they would be PUN to make !!!!
Man, you beat me to the Toast to Your Success idea! Of course, Sonny beat me to the play on words. When I first saw the diorama dies, I thought why so many egg sizes or puddles. Love your ideas. I saw so many negative comments about this PP kit before it came out but hey, the yolk is on us! A lot of us just loafed the silliness and appealing addiction. Once I start with the puns I am on a roll. Can you believe I have not even opened my PP kit yet?
Really really clever cards!!! I skipped this month’s kit but now am rethinking that decision! Lots of great inspiration here.
