Welcome to the Candy Hearts Blog Hop for April! Today we are sharing projects with Fancy Folds. After reading my post, I hope you will hop to the next person on the list below. Be sure to hop around to see ALL the great projects the Candy Hearts have created for you!
So Happy for You
I don’t make a lot of cards that would be considered “fancy folds” – my cards tend to be simple A2 cards, a half-sheet of cardstock that’s scored in half. I played around with different ideas for today’s Candy Hearts Blog Hop and landed on a mix of fancy folds that I love so much. Here’s my card:
My card showcases a variety of products that are not yet available (but that will be when Stampin’ Up!’s 2022 Annual Catalog launches on May 3). Here’s a list of these products:
- Good Feelings Cling Stamp Set
- 2022-2024 In Colors (I showcase Sweet Sorbet, Tahitian Tide and Parakeet Party here)
- Summer Shadow Dies (these were a Sale-a-Bration item last Fall, but they are available for purchase in the new catalog!)
I love stamp sets with big, bold sentiments – they make card designs so easy! I received the Good Feelings stamp set as a part of Stampin’ Up!’s online event last week. Here’s a look at this stamp set:
Great sentiments, right?! Here’s a look at the Summer Shadows Dies, which are back in the new catalog (I’m happy I hung on to mine):
To build my flowers and leaves, I ran my ink pads over the coordinating cardstock to achieve a richer concentration of color. I cropped the detailed images with the inked cardstock and the base images with the cardstock. This really adds something special to these beautiful flowers. Here’s a look at the Sweet Sorbet flower as it’s above to pass through my Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine:
These flowers look amazing in the new 2022-2024 In Colors, don’t they?! Here’s a look at all five of these amazing, new colors (I used the first three on this card):
Now that I’ve covered all the products on this card, let me walk you through how I built it.
The base of the card is a 4-1/4″ x 11″ piece of Crumb Cake cardstock that I scored at 5-1/2″ and then cut in 1-1/2″ inches along the right side of the front base.
I cut an 8-1/4″ x 3-1/2″ piece of Crumb Cake and scored it at 4-1/4″ (the 4-1/4″ piece is glued to the back of the card and the 4″ piece wraps around to the front.
The Basic White panel on the front of the card measures 3-7/8″ x 4-1/8″. All the other layers fit or frame the panels. You might have different sizes with different stamps or dies, so I will rely on you to fit or frame as you see fit. ♥
Here’s another look at my card:
I didn’t decorate the inside panel of the card (as so many like to do) because I plan to write a lot of encouraging, supportive words inside. 🙂

Beautiful card. I really like how you subtly changed the card stock color. The fold is awesome! Totally great card!
Thanks so much, Dianne! This was a challenge for me to pull together – and I had fun with it. Glad you like it. ♥
Wow! A fun fold and flowers on the same card! Very impressive. I love the design and the three strips of CS under the sentiment. They really make the pretty flowers pop. I need to CASE this fun card. Enjoy your day!
Thank you so much, Hilda! I added the strips of color when the backdrop started feeling too plain. So glad you like it! ♥
Love the bright happy colors! Great fun fold card!
Aren’t these colors amazing?! Thanks so much, Windy! ♥
Fun Fold in deed! Brian, I to like large bold sentiments! I looked up this one in the new upcoming catalog and “yep” I have it flagged for my want list. Thank you for the tip of stamping the CS in order to give the flower outline a deeper color vs using two colors of CS. “Smart”
It’s a great set, Katrina! I’m so glad you marked it with a big “yep”! 🙂 Thanks for your comments – always great to hear from you.
What a fun card you have shared with us today Brian! I can’t wait to see the new In Colors in person.
They are absolutely wonderful, Grace! I know you are going to love them.
I love this card! It forced me to look at some SU products I have not considered, before. I have also recently experimented with fun or fancy folds and am finding it to be very fun and challenging!
Thank you so much, Barb! Fancy folds can be really fun – glad you are enjoying them. ♥
Oh wow..Brian the colors are awesome!! I just love it. I need to case this card!!!
Thanks so much, Lisa! These new colors are AH-MAZING! ♥
What a HAPPY looking card my friend. And your fun fold makes it that much BETTER. TFS!
Thanks so much, Kadie! I tried different folds and was happy to come up with this combination. Worked well with these flowers – glad you like it.
Such a cool fold! This is a wonderful showcase of the new In Colors. And the technique of inking the card stock is super!
🙂 Thanks so much, Candy! ♥ It was a fun challenge.
Such a stunning card! I stumbled upon it and was so excited to see the new “in” colors! Brian, your work is amazing!
Thank you so much, Barbara. I am so glad you like it. I previously shared about the In Colors – you can see more here: https://wp.me/p4c2zA-OEy
This card is very adorable!!!!
♥ Thanks, Pam! ♥
Brian – WOW! This is such a terrific fun fold and once studying your picture diagrams it is not hard to assemble. I love the that the right fold inside is perfect for putting a gift card pocket. That’s my idea – ha!! Thank you for sharing this great card design. 🙂
Well done, Brian! What a sweet fold. It really gives good ol’ Crumb Cake a chance to shine. And anchoring those bright new In-Colors on a neutral is just genius! Thanks–as always–for sharing.
Great fold and I am loving that sweet sorbet!
