A Cup of Tea in Starry Sky

I love a monochromatic card – a card that showcases a color scheme with hues from a single color. What better color to showcase on a monochromatic card than one of Stampin’ Up!’s 2022-2024 In Colors, new in Stampin’ Up!’s 2022 Annual Catalog? I used Starry Sky, a deep rich mix of navy blue and dark purple. Here’s the card I made to share with you today:

The layout of today’s card is inspired by this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge – Judy Rozema’s sketch is fun and different. I had a great time with it! Here’s the sketch Judy designed for this week’s challenge:

How fun is that?! The mug at the heart of this card, the sentiment, the tag and the leaves stamped on the Starry Sky panel are all pulled from the Cup of Tea Bundle, the first bundle featured in Stampin’ Up!’s new catalog. Many of the papers and designs in this set can lend to a formal, old-fashioned project. The Starry Sky stripes, though, feel very modern and fresh to me. Here’s a look at this must-have bundle:

At first glance, you might assume the leafy pattern on my card is pulled from the Designer Series Paper that coordinates with the Cup of Tea Suite – it’s not. The Starry Sky leaves are found in the Butterfly Kisses 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. I love the mix of colors and patterns in this pack of papers (and the leaves worked so well with my tea cup). I mimicked the pointed element on Judy’s sketch with the Basic Borders Dies. I cropped the Starry Sky panel, just scooching the die over a bit to be off-center on the panel. I cropped a white piece, too, for a simple, stitched border. Here’s a look at the Basic Borders Dies:

I used a lot of Starry Sky in today’s card, and I love every bit of it. Not only did I use Starry Sky cardstock and a Starry Sky Classic Stampin’ Pad, but I featured a piece of Designer Series Paper with a Starry Sky pattern and colored three Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels with Starry Sky Stampin’ Blends to accent my card. Such fun!
