Beauty in Everything with Rugged Icons Dies

Over the past couple of months, I’ve been sharing projects with many of the stand-alone dies featured in Stampin’ Up!’s 2022 Annual Catalog. I love these dies, which are often overlooked when we dine on the first 100 pages of the catalog. I LOVED working with this die from the Rugged Icons Dies and am excited to share this project with you. Here’s my card:

Simply Fabulous, Rugged Icons Dies, Stampin Up!, Brian KingAs with last year’s Annual Catalog, this year’s book features some new sets of dies that aren’t tied to a bundle – each set of dies is featured in various projects throughout the catalog, but the images of these stand-alone dies are only shown between pages 169 and 175. I’m sharing all of these stand-alone dies at the base of this post, but here’s a closer look at the Rugged Icons Dies:

Rugged Icons Dies, Stampin Up! 159104I cropped the scenic image with Black cardstock and mounted it on a slightly larger Highland Heather circle from the Layering Circles Dies. I then ran the die back through my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine again with the following cardstock colors to crop the coordinating images:

  • Balmy Blue – sky
  • Daffodil Delight – sun
  • Gorgeous Grape – mountain fronts
  • Pear Pizzazz – grass
  • Pacific Point – river

I simply placed the colorful cutouts int the template I had created with the circular die. I added a couple of dots of glue to the Highland Heather base and then placed the colorful pieces inside. Such a fun technique that builds a bold, beautiful image.

I scoured the catalog for the perfect sentiment to accompany this beautiful scene. There were many runners-up to this one, but I think “There is beauty in everything” is the perfection complement. Would you have used the same? Here’s a look at the Simply Fabulous photopolymer stamp set that gave me this sentiment:

Simply Fabulous, Stampin Up!, 159133I stamped the sentiment and popped up my colorful landscape scene on a 3″ x 4-1/4″ panel of Basic White. I framed that with a Basic Black piece and another Highland Heather piece (to mimic the borders around the circle). I added a 3-3/4″ x 4-1/4″ panel of Brights 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (Gorgeous Grape) between the focal panels and the Gorgeous Grape base.

Stamp Sets: Simply Fabulous  Papers: Brights 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (Gorgeous Grape), Gorgeous Grape, Basic Black, Highland Heather, Balmy Blue, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, Pacific Point, Basic White  Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black  Accessories: Rugged Icons Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals
