Oh, Hello for FMS544

Stampin’ Up!’s Designer Series Papers offer us some fun patterns with great colors that can be used as a background or an accent on a card. I cut a small panel of birds from the Rings of Love as an accent on this sweet card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Here’s my card:

And here’s the banner for Karren Johnson’s sketch challenge that inspired my card:

FMS544Behind the sweet birds is a Night of Navy panel that’s cropped with the Dots & Spots Die, one of the stand-alone dies in Stampin’ Up!’s 2022 Annual Catalog (it’s not specifically designed to coordinate with a stamp set, but it’s such a fun die that you just have to have!). There are SO MANY dies on pages 169-175 that are new and only lightly showcased in the catalog – I hope you’ll give them another look. Here’s the Dots & Spots Die I used to create the background on my card:

Dots & Spots Die, Stampin Up! 159164I tried to crop the background between the dots so none would be cut off along the edges, but that wasn’t nearly as cute as when I allowed the dots to just get cut off. The Balmy Blue base pops from behind the Night of Navy panel for a fun peekaboo effect. Love it!

In the spaces between the cropped dots, I added lots and lots of Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to lift the cropped panel off the Balmy Blue background. They fit so perfectly in the spaces between the dots. Here’s a closer look from the side of my card:

I added two panels to my card to coordinate with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge – a Crushed Curry rectangle cut to the same size as a panel of birds from the Rings of Love Designer Series Paper. This incredible pack of papers can be selected with a $50 order in July or August as a Sale-a-Bration freebie! What a great selection! Here’s a closer look at the colors and patterns in this gorgeous pack of papers:

Here’s a closer look at how the colors in this card work together (including a close-up of the fun sentiment from Lovely & Lasting):

    • Thank you so much, Michelle! I’m always amazed by how well Crushed Curry plays with other colors – this combination made me very happy. Glad you like it, too!

  3. I love the cut-off dots, which add so much interest. That DSP pack is full of wonderful designs. I love this one with birds. Enjoy your day!

  4. What a beautiful card, Brian! I love that die and DSP and you made the most of them while staying true to the sketch. 😘

    • Thanks so much, Robin! That die has been “on my list to use” for some time – helped me out when I needed it. I’ll definitely be using this one more often. Thanks! ♥

  5. Love the use of the Dots & Spots die and cutting DSP for the image! Great card!

    • Thanks so much, WIndy! I really love these birds, but I’m not sure I want to see a full page of them. It’s like butterflies – 3 is nice but a page of them is a swarm. 🙂 Always wonderful to hear from you. ♥

  6. Your gorgeous card just added another item to my wish list – the spots and dots die. Love this!

  7. This is so pretty! I love how you used a cropped piece of this beautiful dsp for the focal panel. And the pops of Crushed Curry are fabulous! Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches, Brian!
