Warm Wishes for FMS552

When I set out to make a card, I usually start with a color combination or layout (or both). When this week’s Freshly Made Sketches layout was shared online yesterday, I already had a few products on my table I wanted to work with – paper, stamp set and sentiment were lined up, and colors were selected. I was just waiting for inspiration to pull them all together. It was perfect timing for me as the FMS sketch pulled them all together for me in a fun way. Here’s my card:

Celebrate with Tags Bundle, Kindest Gnomes, Stampin Up!, Brian King, Christmas Card

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

FMS552The foundation of this card (and the starting point for the sketch) are the two panels of festive paper. Both panels (each measuring 2″ x 3-3/4″) are pulled from the Sweetest Christmas Designer Series Paper. Here’s a look at the sweet colors and fun patterns in the Sweetest Christmas Designer Series Paper:

I positioned these panels on a 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ piece of Pool Party cardstock and a 4″ x 5-1/4″ panel of Real Red (I just needed that extra layer). I stamped two Real Red mittens with the Celebrate with Tags stamp set and cropped them with the coordinating Celebrations Tags Dies. Here’s a look at this incredible bundle:

I scanned my stamp sets over and over for the perfect sentiment for this card. I wanted something small (didn’t want to overpower the mittens) and words that would tie in with the sweet hand warmers. I had just about given up when I stumbled upon a tiny saying (small enough) with a reference to warmth. “Warm wishes” from Kindest Gnomes was the perfect sentiment and perfect size. Yay! Here’s a look at this fun bundle:

Kindest Gnomes Bundle, Stampin Up! 159626I love the mix of colors in the Sweetest Christmas Designer Series Paper – Pool Party, Real Red and Garden Green are pulled right from the pack of papers. If you like this mix of colors as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:

    Good morning, Brian!
The trio of Real Red, Garden Green, and Pool Party makes such a cheery Christmas combo. Your layout is especially eye-catching with the sentiment backed by Garden Green but partially over the mittens.
It “pops” 😉 Thanks, Brian, and have a great day!

  11. Adorable card. Mittens are standard winter wear in Canada. Like the layout and love Saturday’s posting about dimensions. This is usually where I struggle. Seeing them beside each other helped immensely. Thnaks
