You know how much I love traditional colors for Christmas – there’s nothing more festive than bright reds and greens or rich reds and greens. If you’ve followed me for a while, then you also know how much I love non-traditional colors for Christmas – yellows, blues, pinks and purples can be very effective for Holiday cards. Here’s a card I made with neon-bright, non-traditional colors:.
The checkered panel on my card showcases one of my favorite techniques – adding color to a black-and-white piece of Designer Series Paper. With Parakeet Party and Polished Pink Stampin’ Blends, I added additional stripes to a page from the Gingham Cottage Designer Series Paper for some sweet color. I love this pack of papers – Gingham Cottage is a mega-pack of 48 pages of 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Papers with a grand variety of colors and designs. I quickly drew my lines with Stampin’ Blends between each of the black stripes – didn’t even have to be careful about it. 🙂 Here’s a closer look:
The sentiment at the heart of the card is pulled from a shouldn’t-be-overlooked stamp set toward the back of Stampin’ Up!’s July-December 2022 Mini Catalog – the Very Best Occasions stamp set. While the set coordinates with the Very Best Trio Punch, I cropped my sentiment with a circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies. Here’s a look at the Very Best Occasions Bundle:
I colored the leaves of holly on the sentiment with a Parakeet Party Stampin’ Blend (the same one I used to add color to the gingham page). I colored the berries with a Polished Pink Stampin’ Blend (the same one I used to add color to the gingham paper). To coordinate with that image, I cropped three holly leaves from the Holly Berry Dies, sold separately or as part of the Leaves of Holly Bundle.
