Yesterday I shared a card I made with patchwork pieces of Designer Series Paper from the Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper and Dainty Designs Designer Series Paper, two Sale-a-Bration papers available with a qualifying order. These are great papers! Today I’m sharing a second project I made with my Tennessee friends over the weekend with the FUN patchwork technique. This project uses a different combination of patterns and colors. Here’s a look at this project:
This 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ notebook is perfect carry around to jot down to do’s or things to remember. I didn’t pop up any elements on the front of this notebook so they wouldn’t get ripped off when bouncing around in a bag, briefcase or purse. I selected the purple patterns from the Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper and Dandy Designs Designer Series Paper for this project, while yesterday’s project (a card) features pinks and greens. If you would like to read more about the card in the photo below, you can CLICK HERE to see my full post for the project here. Here’s a look at both projects together:
To build a patchwork card of your own, find four pages with patterns that work well together and then cut them to build four pieces that can be mixed and matched to create four cards. You can stack the pages on top of one each other to cut them so you have all done at once or just carefully cut them with the measurements for each piece. I wanted my finished panels to measure 3-3/4″ x 5″ so I cut the papers to that size first. I then cut those pieces into four pieces that would work well together. Here are the measurements I came up with for the panels on my card and notebook (from smallest panel to the largest):
- 2-1/2″ x 3-1/4″
- 2=1/2″ x 1-3/4″
- 1-1/4″ x 2″
- 1-1/4″ x 3″
As you can see, all of those add together to make a 3-3/4″ x 5″ panel when all the pieces are mixed and matched for the finished projects. Here’s a look at the four designs created when all four pieces are cut with these dimensions:
How gorgeous are those papers?! If you haven’t picked up the Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper or Dandy Designs Designer Series Papers, there’s still time! These papers are available when you purchase products you already want during Sale-a-Bration. Yay! Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper:
And here are the colors and patterns in the Dandy Designs Designer Series Paper:
I added a Basic White Stylish Shapes circle and a sentiment from the Playing in the Rain stamp set to complete the look of my notebook. I used Tear and Tape to adhere a piece of ribbon to the inside, back of the book that allows the recipient to mark their page at any time (and it’s a beautiful accent, too!). I chose the 3/8″ Fine Art Ribbon, which I thought was current but is not. IT IS in the Clearance Rack right now, though, so there’s a bonus! I’ve included a link to the product below.

Good morning, Brian!
Thank you so much for your in-depth instructions on the patchwork DSP design cards. I especially like the one with the square-cut sentiment panel.
Cool idea and love the different patchwork possibilities!
Sweet, of course I like it better in purple!
