I’m still thrilled with last week’s release of Stampin’ Up!’s September-December 2023 Mini Catalog – and I’m over the moon about the synchronized release of five new Designer Series Papers. New products always get my creative energies flowing. I played with a new bundle from the Holiday Mini Catalog and a new paper from the special release to make this Christmas card:
The Christmas Classics Bundle includes great sentiments for a variety of Christmas designs and a set of festive, fun and modern dies. I cropped two of the square greenery dies (one in Old Olive, and one in Garden Green) and then layered them over each other for a full design. The squared piece and the sentiment are also pulled from the bundle. Here’s a look at the Christmas Classics Bundle:
I’m going to share a secret (but please don’t tell anyone) – when I glued the Old Olive and Garden Green pieces, I didn’t line them up exactly right, so a strip of the Garden Green shown through along the edge of the Old Olive square. Rather than re-cut everything (I can be so lazy sometimes), I cropped a 2-1/4″ square piece of Cherry Cobbler to frame the sentiment and hide the edges. I think I like the additional Cherry Cobbler panel better than I would without it, so I’ll chalk it up to a happy mistake. Here’s a closer look at how these layers work together:
With a Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blend I added a deeper color to the Sweet Sorbet pearls in the 2022-2024 In Color Pearls for a perfect accent to the greenery on my card. Behind the focal image is a Copper Clay cutout from the Nested Essentials Dies. These little accents add something special to this card. Here’s a look at the 2022-2024 In Color Pearls:
Let’s talk, for a moment, about the shiny Copper Clay tartan pattern behind my Christmas greeting. It’s gorgeous, right? While I ordered the Tartan Foil Specialty Designer Series Paper that was part of the new release, I wasn’t sure how (or if) I’d use them. Those papers have been very popular with my customers, so I gave them a second look. Happy I did. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Tartan Foil Specialty Designer Series Paper:

Old Olive, Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler are classic colors for Christmas designs. The Copper Clay backdrop to these traditional colors makes me very happy. Beautiful card Brian! Love these “not so traditional” colors. Don’t you just love when those “oops” moments turn out even better than the originals idea?!
