Be Inspired by Taking Flight

It’s time for another Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop – what fun! The Be Inspired Design Team is a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from all over the world who are excited to share our themed projects with you. I’m so honored to be a part of this group of talented stampers!

For today’s Be Inspired Blog Hop, we are creating projects inspired by the wonder of flight – you might see planes or birds or balloons, but my project features beautiful butterflies against a backdrop of beautiful colors. The Be Inspired Design Team and I are excited to share what we’ve made!

If you aren’t starting the hop here, then you probably just popped over from the project shared by my friend Janneke Dkjkstra de Jong. I’m happy you are here.

A Beautiful Birthday with Sketched Butterflies

I’m an hopeless overachiever – rather than make a card to share with you today, I made three. They are rather simple, but I love how they came together. My cards feature a variety of sentiments (birthday, thank you and thinking of you), but the design for each is the same. Here’s one of the cards I made to share with you:

Sketched Butterflies, Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian King

The soft butterflies are stamped with Smoky Slate ink on the paper-pieced panels of sweet colors. The simple design of these butterflies work so well as a background for this card. Here’s a look at this must-have bundle:

All three of the watercolor-designed panels on the background of this card are pulled from the versatile pages of the Bright & Beautiful 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. Here’s a look at these papers, which are currently on sale with Stampin’ Up!’s Designer Series Paper Sale:

If you’d like to review all of the packs included in the Designer Series Paper sale (which ends on Saturday), click here.

I stacked the three pages together, cut them to 3-3/4″ x 5″ and then cut the slanted designs (eyeballing each of the three cuts). By cutting all three of the pages at once, I could swap the pieces around and rebuild them to create three panels. After I pieced them together and glued them to a 3-3/4″ x 5″ piece of copy paper, I stamped the butterflies across the background of each. Here’s a look at all three of the cards I created with this technique:

The Lemon Lolly card bases, sentiment circles and shiny embellishments from the Tinsel Gems Four-Pack help to pull these cards together. I had originally tried to build them with Basic Gray bases, but that wasn’t working for me. It’s the mix of Designer Series Paper colors here, though, that make me so happy. If you like this mix of Fresh Freesia, Lemon Lime Twist and Azure Afternoon as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:
