A Christmas Card with Shepherd’s Care

A few weeks ago, I created an all-brown Christmas card to share with you (you can see that card here). I suppose the unique color combination has stuck in my head because I’ve created another all-brown Christmas card to share with you today. Here’s the card, which features the Shepherd’s Care stamp set (which was on back order for a while but is back in stock):

Shepherd's Care, Falling Snow, Stampin Up!, Brian King, Christmas cardHere’s a look at the Shepherd’s Care stamp set, which showcases beautiful images and sentiments for that are perfect to tell the story of Christmas:

Shepherd's Care, Falling Snow, Stampin Up!, Brian KingI adore the open line images with water colored accents in this stamp set. I stamped the shepherd and star with Early Espresso ink on Crumb Cake cardstock and carefully cut them out with my paper snips scissors. Here’s a closer look at the design on this stamped image:

Shepherd's Care, Falling Snow, Stampin Up!, Brian King, Christmas cardI framed the Early Espresso panel with a thin Crumb Cake frame and another Early Espresso frame. I mounted those panels over a Crumb Cake and Basic Beige design from the Season of Elegance Specialty Designer Series Paper. While there are SO MANY gorgeous pages in this pack with gold accents (they are spectacular!), I chose the matte-finished page – no need for shine and shimmer here. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Season of Elegance Specialty Designer Series Paper:

Season of Elegance Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up! 164144I added a subtle texture to the Early Espresso panel with the Falling Snow stamp set. In my mind’s eye, these images were stars (I know it wasn’t snowing in Bethlehem). The images (stamped tone-on-tone) are so small and so faint that I’m not sure the recipient will even think of the pattern as snowflakes. You will – since I told you – but I think I’ll get a pass from everyone else on this one. Here’s a look at the Falling Snow stamp set:

What do you think about an all-brown Christmas card? Perhaps it’s easier to accomplish with a religious card? Do you think it will stand out in a cluster of green and red Christmas cards?

Thanks for stopping by today!

  1. The “all brown” card keeps the message simple. You chose the perfect background with the shimmery paper!

  2. It’s a beautiful, sweet card. I love the layering and your awesome fussy cutting. Great job!
