Paper Pumpkin Alternatives – Nests of Christmas

I hosted my monthly Zoom call with my Paper Pumpkin customers on Saturday afternoon. During our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call, I share some fun ideas with the items included in the monthly kit, and my customers share their brilliant ideas. I’m always impressed by what others are making and love to spend that time with my customers who participate. Sometimes we rush through our projects and then just chat for the rest of the time. Always such fun!

Pumpkin in the Fungeon, Brian KingOctober’s Nests of Christmas kit is such a beauty with a mix of fun fold cards that are certain to wow your Christmas card recipients. The designs are perfect for Christmas or any Winter-themed card. Today I’m sharing two cards I made with October’s kit and shared during our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call.

More About The Kit

Here’s a look at the finished projects (as designed) from October’s Nests of Christmas Paper Pumpkin Kit:

The designed projects are beautiful, and the birds are regal (if you like birds). Barbara, who joined our call, made 15 alternative projects to share with the group but admitted to the group that she has never liked birds. Here’s a look at the sweet stamp set that accompanied this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit:

Alternative Projects

The alternative projects I’m sharing with you are constructed similarly but with different colors and elements. While I adore the as-designed projects in the kit, I really love how these turned out. Here’s a look at these cards:

The designed cards for the Paper Pumpkin Kit include a punched out element to create an opening on the front of the card. The Coastal Cabana shape with the Shaded Spruce foil I showcased on my cards is the leftover pieces from the punched out frame. Bonus!

I added “JOY” to both cards with Real Red cardstock and the Alphabet a la Mode Dies. Here’s a look at these versatile and easy-to-use dies:

Alphabet A La Mode Dies, Stampin Up! 160750I added three Drusy Adhesive-Backed Embellishments to each card. These embellishments add such a gorgeous shine – it’s difficult to capture how beautiful they are in a photograph. Here’s a look at the Drusy Adhesive-Backed Embellishments:

    Shaded Spruce

Here’s a closer look at the card with a Shaded Spruce card base:

October 2024 Paper Pumpkin Alternatives, Stampin Up!, Brian KingHow adorable is that little bird?! I added a 3-1/4″ band of Real Red Designer Series Paper (from the upcoming Online Exclusives Marbled Elegance Designer Series Paper) behind the focal panel to pull in the Real Red I used on the sentiment and tie in with the berries on the branch.

That cardinal is a beauty! The Shaded Spruce band (3-1/4″ tall like the first card I shared) is the popped out piece from the front of one of the cards in the kit. What a fun way to utilize the “scraps” from the kit.

    Color Combination

My cards feature three colors prominently displayed in October’s Paper Pumpkin Kit. If you love this mix of Coastal Cabana, Real Red and Shaded Spruce as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:

    1. I always love your creativity. This card with the upside-down arch and thin JOY is eye-catching! Enjoy your day!

    2. Love your cards Brian! It is fun putting together these kits and playing to use them in Our own way. The kits keep getting better and better! If anyone was a subscriber and dropped, I would suggest giving it a try again!

    3. You are the first designer I’ve seen invert the arch cutout~kudos! Two great alternatives. Love them both. ❤️
Good thing I “only” ordered 3 of these kits because with all the alternatives possible, I could be making these cards until NEXT Christmas! Thanks for more inspiration~
