Brian’s Week in Review: December 8, 2024

Brian's Week in Review

I’ve had great intentions about my Christmas cards. I finalized a design and have been cracking away at some of the elements, but a few [perfectly wonderful] things have kept me from making too much progress. Not only have I been helping Mom to design and create her Christmas cards (she’s been visiting since before Thanksgiving), but I was swept away from my big project yesterday to participate in an all-day shoebox swap hosted by Pam Morris, my Stampin’ Up! upline. It was great fun!

15 of us met at the Alpharetta Library yesterday with a “shoebox” of goodies to make a project we designed. We rotated around the room, making all of the projects and chatting (and cutting up a bit). Here’s the project I designed for the shoebox swap:

Rather than make a card, I designed the front of a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ kraft notebook. The background panel is from the A Little Bit Festive Specialty Designer Series Paper, and the gingerbread house is stamped and punched with the Humble Home Bundle. I added a little texture to the Pool Party sky with the Falling Snow stamp set and built a sentiment with the Love This Moment stamp set. I added three Iridescent Faceted Gems and a Pecan Pie 3/8″ Center Stripe Ribbon (attached inside the back cover with Tear and Tape to allow the recipient to mark their page.

We had great fun at the shoebox swap – and the projects were incredible! Always fun to hang out with my stamping friends. ♥

Today is Sunday – and that means it’s time to take a look back at the past week in my Week in Review post. In today’s post, I want to share a quick rundown of the week (for those who don’t follow me every day) and a little extra background (for those who already tune in daily). I’m also sharing a tiny peek at two promotions coming up this week – I’ll share more about these promotions as they roll out this week.

Much of this week has been dedicated to the Last Chance Sale, special promotions and the most recent Super-Awesome Fun Time Card Kit. There’s more, though! Here’s a quick look at my shares from the past week, followed by a quick look at what’s ahead in the week to come.

Monday

On Monday, I introduced you to the Designer Series Paper Special Release that was live on Tuesday. Stampin’ Up! repurposed past favorite designs by adding new colors – and I can’t wait to play with the new papers (mine have shipped and are on their way to me).

If you’d like a closer look at these papers (including a look at the previous papers, the current papers and my favorite colors combinations from the new designs), CLICK HERE.

Tuesday

Tuesday marked the launch of Stampin’ Up!’s annual Last Chance sale. There are some changes this year – not only does the Last Chance section of the online store include products that are retiring from the 2024 Holiday Mini Catalog, but it also includes products from other Online Exclusives offerings. There are a lot of great discounts – and once these items are gone, they are gone.

Wednesday

With all the excitement around the Last Chance Sale, I was inspired to play with one of the bundles I’ve had for a while but that I haven’t used a lot. I pulled out the retiring (and highly discounted) Garden Meadow stamp set and Garden Meadow Dies to make this card:

Garden Meadow Bundle, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThe stamp set and coordinating dies are offered at a 60% discount when purchased separately – but they are only available while supplies last. I stared with the wheel barrow and then thought to add the basket of flowers and then the water can. The collage got bigger and bigger the more I played, which kept me from focusing on my Christmas cards – but I had loads of fun.

Thursday

While I still want you to focus on the Last Chance Sale, I dove into my demonstrator pre-order from the Spring Mini Catalog to make a fun mushroom card with the new Terrific Toadstools Bundle and from the Sale-a-Bration offering with the Toadstool Gardens 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. Such fun! Here’s the card I made to share on Thursday:

I love this fun set and the way the punch crops inside the lines of the image. The papers are incredible, too! Such fun! If you’d like to take a closer look at these upcoming products and read more about my project, CLICK HERE.

Friday

On Friday, I gave you a peek at the thank you tags I made for the most recent Super-Awesome Fun Time Card Kits which featured the Happy Hibiscus Bundle. Here’s a look at one of those tags:

These are so bright and so cheery – rarely have I felt so happy designing or assembling tags. The bright colors feel so special with these flowers. If you’d like to read more about this project or bundle, CLICK HERE.

Saturday

On Saturday I launched the online version of the Super-Awesome Fun Time Card Kit with eight projects featuring the Happy Hibiscus Bundle. Emma Goddard and I had great fun with this bundle and were excited to share these projects. Here’s what was included in each of the kits that were mailed out:
