Happy Graduation!

My Christmas cards have been mailed out (I’ll share that card with you next week), I’ve just wrapped up my share of this year’s Holiday One-for-One Card Swaps (you can see those here) and I recently shared Mom’s Christmas card (you see it here). It’s safe to say there’s been a lot of Christmas on my blog lately – and that’s not a bad thing. But…today, the car is taking a steep turn off the road to Christmas for another recent celebration. Last weekend my nephew, Garrison, graduated from college. I couldn’t be there to celebrate with him, but here’s a card I made to celebrate his huge accomplishment:

Wanted to Say Dies, Pocket Thoughts stamp set, Stampin Up!, Brian King, Graduation cardThe simple card features all the necessary elements – a diploma, stars and a bold sentiment that says it all. If you haven’t yet invested in the Wanted to Say Dies, I hope you’ll take another look. I’ve possibly used the sentiments in this set more than any other over the past year. Here’s a look at the dies I used to build this sentiment on the front of Garrison’s card:

Wanted to Say Dies, Stampin Up! 161594The diploma at the heart of the card is stamped with the Pocket Thoughts stamp set – the rolled diploma is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and the diploma ribbon is stamped with Daffodil Delight ink. I cut out the diploma with my paper snips (it’s an easy image to cut out, and I only had one to cut). The Pocket Thoughts Bundle has proven to be more versatile than I originally thought – another great purchase! Here’s a look at the Pocket Thoughts Bundle:

Pocket Thoughts Bundle, Stampin Up! 163553I mounted the sentiment on a rectangle cutout from the Everyday Details Dies, which is currently in the Last Chance Sale, discounted and set to go away as soon as the current stock sells out. I added three Daffodil Delight stars from the Tune In Bundle to add a little additional, celebratory flair to the card. Here’s a closer look at the cluster of the sentiment, image and celebratory flair on the card:

Wanted to Say Dies, Pocket Thoughts stamp set, Stampin Up!, Brian King, Graduation cardYou may have already guessed this, but the color scheme on my card was based on Garrison’s college colors. I pulled the Night of Navy design from the Mediterranean Blooms Designer Series Paper and added a striped page from the Brights 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (Daffodil Delight, of course). Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Mediterranean Blooms Designer Series Paper:
