Bravo with the Rainbow Celebration Kit

It’s been several years since I’ve played along with an online challenge. Two weeks ago, I popped over to the Freshly Made Sketches challenge and played along with the fun challenge they were hosting. I was so surprised to be selected as a runner up by the design team. I committed to play along with last week’s challenge as a “thank you” to the team – lo and behold I was selected as last week’s King, the winner of the sketch challenge. With so many wonderful submissions, what an incredible honor to be recognized! To see my card from last week’s FMS challenge, CLICK HERE.

Once again, I am playing along with the incredible sketch at Freshly made Sketches this week – and once again, I do not expect to be recognized by the design team. I’m happy to have the inspiration and am grateful for the inspiring design team projects. Here’s the card I made inspired by this week’s FMS challenge:

Here’s a look at Jen Mitchell’s sketch that inspired my card (if you’d like to see the projects created by the design team or other participants in the challenge, click on the sketch below):

FMS 674I played with so many round and oval shapes and designs before I decided to open up a Rainbow Celebrations Kit to see if those designs would work for me. And they did! The Rainbow Celebrations Kit is a no-stamping card kit you can select for free with a $60 order during Sale-a-Bration – the arches in from one of the rainbows makes a groovy, modern circle for my card. Here’s a look at this Sale-a-Bration kit:

Rainbow Celebration Kit, Stampin' Up!, 164945The words on my card are also pulled from the kit. “Bravo!” seems to fit perfectly with the bold design on the left side of the card. I added “Let’s Celebrate” after everything had been assembled – the card just needed one more element, and this gave me exactly what I wanted!

card made with the Rainbow Celebration Kit, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FMS674I added three stars (two Lemon Lime Twist and one Summer Splash) above the sentiment. These shiny stars were cropped with the Tune In Dies. Before I cropped them, though, I added a piece of packing tape to the cardstock, giving the stars a faux-embossed shine. Love it! The mid-century design of these stars ties perfectly with the mid-century colors in the rest of the card.

If you love this mix of Lemon Lime Twist, Summer Splash and Pretty Peacock as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:
