This week’s challenge from Merry Monday is super-fun – blue and silver ornaments. As soon as I saw that challenge, I immediately went to the catalog to see what items could fit that bill. I was at a loss for a bit, but then came across Cheerful Christmas. I’d used the sentiment before, but I hadn’t used the ornaments. They were a perfect accent for this card. Here’s my project:
- Coloring the Pearls. The Christmas Cheer sentiment is the centerpiece of this card – and the ornaments only play a supporting role. The random, multi-sized dots in the pattern of this sentiment are perfect for adding pearls or rhinestones. I colored the pearls with Night of Navy and Coastal Cabana Blendabilities – a perfect accent for this image. It’s a good idea to have a set of Blendabilities for coloring on paper and a set of Blendabilities for coloring on embellishments (the tips can become damaged on the embellishments, causing them to be less perfect on paper).
- Rounding [some of] the Corners. To add a little interest to a project, play around with your Project Life Corner Rounder. Whether you round one, two, three or four corners, the rounded shape adds character. I shaped two opposing corners on this project just to add a little interest.
- Just hanging out. I tried to hang these three ornaments on silver ribbon and silver twine. In the end, though, I decided to simply let them hang off the base of the sentiment. They aren’t even attached to the larger panel. Both the panel and ornaments are popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals – I just tucked the tip of the ornaments under the panel.
Stamp Sets: Cheerful Christmas Papers: Night of Navy, Soft Sky, Lost Lagoon, Whisper White Inks: Lost Lagoon, Blendabilities (Night of Navy, Coastal Cabana) Accessories: Pearls Basic Jewels, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Project Life Corner Rounder punch
One more thing – the ornaments look so dull in the photo above, so I wanted to show you how shiny they really look with a little light on them:
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you’ll pop over to the Merry Monday Blog Challenge site to see the projects by our other design team members.
