Today’s project includes YET ANOTHER stamp set that I’ve passed over many times when flipping through my catalog over the past several months. I’ve never really had an interest in Greeting Cars Kids, so I challenged myself to use it to make a card. Now I don’t know how I could have lived without it. The stamp set includes adorable sketches of little boys and girls – reminiscent of old-timey Valentine’s Day cards – featuring several holidays. I can’t wait to create Halloween and Valentine’s Day cards with this set.
I designed this card, water coloring the image with the same colors (as close as I could get them) as presented in the current catalog. I also decided to use Baja Breeze as the base of the card to create a soft, wintery feel. Here’s my card:

After I sat with this card, I felt it was missing something. Didn’t want to add a greeting (not sure why I was so opposed), so I looked around my stash of supplies and thought the card could use a big, soft white ribbon. Here’s my “revised” card:

Which do you like best? Please leave a comment on this post to tell me which you like best – ribbon or no ribbon. I would love to hear your thoughts.

Definitely with the ribbon for me! What a lovely card! I’ve been the same about this stamp set but now see that it’s one I need. Seeing this cool winter card is a special treat in this hot July weather. Awesome!
Thanks, Suzanne! What quick feedback! I am preparing for a Christmas in July Stamp-a-Stack this weekend, so I am surrounded by lots of Christmas stamps and colors. A nice change, I admit.
I love the first card and how you colored the girl. I think the bow is overpowering. I like simplistic.
Thanks, Cindy! I thought it needed the bow and loved the bow, but kept coming back to how much I love the first one, too. I am really torn. 🙂
I love CAS cards so I have to say without the bow. The bow is beautiful and all but I also think about mailing and it would probably cost the extra postage so I would go without.
Thanks, Carol! I always think about what it would be like to mail a card – which helps me to keep things simple. 🙂
I think it works best without the bow.
I like the bow, but it covers the pearls. I vote “without the bow”.
The bow is absolutely gorgeous, but, like the others I LOVE, love CAS so, number one it is for me! Hugz2u!
Pretty card. I love this set (I’m a retired elementary teacher, so I like kids!) and use it often. I like the bow, but would probably make it a knot to still add softness without bulk.
Thanks, Karen. I appreciate the feedback and am thankful you stopped by my blog. Please stop by again. 🙂
Ribbon card……..but use smaller ribbon. It overpowers the card.
Love the ribbon!
No Ribbon is my vote.. Love the simple card. Just “found’ your blog. Love it!
Thanks, Sarah! I hope you’ll check out my other posts and consider subscribing. I’m really having a lot of fun with this blog (still new to me). Take care!
I loved the first card-so my vote is without the bow!
I vote without ribbon as it covers up too much of your scallop & pearls. Maybe if you used a thinner ribbon and put it all the way up at the top???
I vote no bow! This card is gorgeous in its original state! You did a great job with the image, Brian! I love it. You even have me thinking about this set! 🙂
That’s what we’re here for, Dawn – to inspire each other to buy everything. 🙂
Looks like the original (no bow) won out hands-down. Thanks for your feedback, everyone! I really appreciate it!
I may be a little late, but I like the one with the bow.
Better late than never … no bow for me! I love this stamp and used it so much last year (I think it is the only one I used out of the set!) You gave me a fresh idea … thanks!!
New to blogging? Who’da guessed! I love your site! I would like to offer my thoughts!! I respect CAS cards, but find it difficult to build one. Just not in the genes! So your bow card is winning me over, and I love the selection, it looks dressy, just like a Christmas package! Thanks for sharing your love of paper crafting with us!
Thanks, Patti! I am glad you are enjoying my blog. I put a lot of time and energy into – and love every minute of it!
