Baja Breeze Factory: Revisited

I am so appreciative of all of your comments an suggestions from yesterday’s post. Because i don’t have the stamp set, i couldn’t start from scratch. Because tour suggestions were so varied, i couldn’t incorporate them all into my rework of that card.

Some of the best suggestions, in my opinion, related to the sentiment itself. It never occurred to me to READ the DSP background. You’re all right! A history lesson on berries and plants – probably not the best background for a sympathy card. Sentiment changed! I also loved the ideas of putting brads or pearls along the Very Vanilla panel. It was also suggested that I lightly sponge on the Very Vanilla panel. My sponging technique was a little darker than I had hoped, but I quite like the way it turned out. By the way, I also sponge daubered a little Baja Breeze over the rhinestones before adding them on. Wiped most off, but there is still a nice essence of blue left on them.

Is this card any better, or did I mess it up further?

Disclaimer: in every photo I took of this card, the ribbon in the top corner looks bunched up. I don’t know why it photographs that way! Just so you know, it looks smooth and clean in person. I you want to come over and see for yourself, I will show you. πŸ™‚

  1. Love it! It looks great… Thanks for the inspiration.

  2. This is really beautiful (I feel a CASE coming on…) I especially like the change to the ribbon, which complements the rhinestones and sponging really well. Thank you for sharing: I know I’ve learned from your dilemma and everyone’s comments.

  3. I think the card looks terrific! I love the tip about sponging the rhinestones. Thanks!
I understand your frustration with the photo. I think there are mischievous gremlins lurking in our cameras!

  9. The card looks great! I love how you switched it up. And I will remember to read my DSP, too! I think the ribbon has a little sheen to it and that’s why it photos like that….doesn’t bother me as I plan to copy it πŸ™‚ Thanks!

  10. I didnt have time to reply yesterday ….love-love the color scheme but I just couldn`t grasp the nuts and berries tie in with a sympathy card.. needless to say I had the giggles off and on yesterday thinking about some poor soul getting ready to bury their uncle Ernie and getting this card !!! Thanks for the fun. I always enjoy your blog ..oh I like the redo and the sentiment change .

  11. Oh much better!!!

  12. beautiful card Brian!

  13. I like the re-worked card so much better!! I, too, love Baja Breeze!

  14. OK – eventhough it wasn’t meant to be funny – you have to admit that anyone receiving your first “sympathy” card could have been scratching their head – wondering “What WAS he thinking?… sending me a sympthy card talking about using Juniper Berries to treat urinary tract infections????” Oh my goodness – anyway – I love what you have created after re-working your card. Changes in your ribbon, as simple as it may seem – makes a big difference and your sponging and brad panel coordinate well with the simple elegance of this card! Great job and thanks for the unintentional laughs!!!

    • BARB!!! Say it isn’t so!!!! I skimmed the words after it was suggested but couldn’t imagine I would come face to face with the words “urinary tract infection”. What?!? nd there it is…in the bottom, right corner of my card. Why?!? Why?!? That is absolutely hysterical!

  15. Much better, Brian! I’m glad you changed it from a sympathy card, and it’s still a lovely creation.

  17. If I know of anyone with a UTI…I will send you their address. LOL! Actually that DSP is my favorite and I had no idea those words were on there. I didn’t think we had to read it before we used it. Oh dear. Anyway, nice rebound. It looks like a million bucks. I will never think of juniper berries the same again!

  18. This card is screaming “CASE me”, “CASE me”!! I love it, especially since this is my favorite DSP! You rocked it!!
