Oh, Christmas Bling!: A Special Christmas Tree-t

“Oh, Christmas Bling! Oh, Christmas Bling! How lovely!” As the clock ticks away at the time you to get your Christmas cards in the mail, who wants a quick and easy solution? I can hear your “I do’s” from here – almost sounds like a mass wedding ceremony. This card has it all – an adorable tree, some soft pearls, a shocking wave and a bling like none other. With all this, there’s not a stamp set or a spot of ink on this card. There’s also a sneak peek item from the Spring Catalog. Do you see it? It’s not hard to find on this simple card. Tips, Tricks and Reminders:

  • Repeating Layering. Every once in a while I really like to play with repeating layers. There’s something soothing about how the red/green/white combination repeats itself again in the center of the card. With all this color, though, the white really stands as the star of this card. The green and red are just guests to the white paper party.
  • Texture. The Chevron Embossing Folder adds a little “umph” to the white background. The added texture adds some shadow to the card without adding color. Colored card stock works perfectly in the embossing folders. If you are not careful, though, Whisper White or Very Vanilla card stock will tear in the folder because it’s a thinner paper. Each Big Shot is different, but I add a piece of thin copy paper into the folder with the Whisper White – works like a charm!
  • Sneak Peek. The tree-topper is a sneak peek at an item available in the Spring Catalog (comes out in January) – the Large Rhinestone Basic Jewels. In the pack, these rhinestones are obnoxiously large, but I am easily finding many ways to use them. I have a feeling you’ll be seeing more of these soon.

Papers: Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green, Whisper White Accessories: Chevron Embossing Folder, Holiday Collection Framelits, Pearl Basic Jewels, Large Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Stampin’ Dimensionals

As I am finishing up this post entry on Wednesday evening, there are 212 entries in my Blog Candy giveaway. We still have three days until I announce a winner. Since my birthday wish was to get 400 comments, y’all are either going to have to leave some more comments or just make a $25 purchase from my site. That was our bargain, right? 🙂 I am so honored that you have shown so much support, so I really have nothing to complain about if I don’t make 400. Thanks so much! Y’all are the best!

  11. I really like the Christmas tree cutout and love the color combination. Great card!

  12. Good morning! I counted my Christmas cards and I have reached “70”. I think my “list” has 41 names on it at this point, but I know I missed a few. So this adorable card may very well become a part of this year’s designs … thanks, Brian! You ALWAYS come through for us! I agree with your comment on the need for a very thin piece of paper with the Whisper White or Very Vanilla cardstock and many of the embossing folders. I have used a piece of vellum in mine, but a piece of copy paper would be more cost-effective. And, I agree, Brian teaches ME something new everyday, too. Have a great Thursday! Just a couple more days until Brian’s big birthday! 🙂

  13. Brian, another WINNER! Oh I just love love love this card! Simple, clean, crisp and oh so elegant! You are SO good! 🙂

  18. I’m with Lucy – dimensions are a must have in order for me to even come close to ending up with the same look! LOL I’m mathematically challenged, that is why I need to make great use of my accountant all the time. I practically have him on retainer! Meanwhile I really like the card Brian and you are totally right, the white really makes everything else stand out! Are you getting close to your 400 reply goal????

  19. Beautifully CAS card, Brian! Loving the chevrons and thanks for the tip with the copy paper. Do you put it on top or bottom of the cardstock in the EF? I guess it doesn’t matter? I would put it on top, I think. Love those large rhinestones! Oh, and I got my ribbons and beautiful extras in yesterdays mail…thank you so very much! I was doing the happy dance! ;D

  20. Oh, Fudge! I forgot about the blog candy! I’m afraid “Thing One and Thing Two” (actually there is also a “Thing Three” also) have kept me busy this week and unable to read, much less play on my computer. Regardless, the card is pretty, the format will work well all year, and I do hope you have a fantastic birthday!

  21. Love the card, and your comment is right on. Simple and Beautiful is the name of the game for those remaining on my xmas card list.

    Happy B’day

  28. So simple but it sure says Christmas.

  29. I`m surprised we haven`t heard from Ann …you would think she could sense all those pearls that you used. …. If you do get a chance there`s a couple of us that we would like the measurements of the layers or does that go with the patd tutorial? I could probably guesstamate since I have that tree framelet (SO CUTE—wish you could use it year round ) I sure am interested in that honker rhinestone….will we use it on Valentines or what???? OH ! The real reason I stopped in was to leave another HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!!

  30. Another winner! I love your style and the TT&R you add to each post. Makes me wonder if you’ve had some art classes. I learn something new each day.

  31. May be ‘quick and easy’ but it is beautiful and love the large ‘diamond’ at the top of your pearlized tree!
