Thank You and a Sneak Peek

I’ve been around for the release of many new Stampin’ Up! catalogs.  I’ve been excited about stamp sets, papers and embellishments.  I’ve thought “I have to have that” as my eyes landed on some of items in the catalog.

During pre-order for the 2013 Spring Catalog, I ordered samples of each of the Designer Series Papers.  After my love affair with the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack fromt he Holiday Catalog, I wasn’t too thrilled with the designs in the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack in the Spring Catalog, but I ordered it anyway.  When that paper actually landed in my hands, however, I gasped for breath.  It just might be my favorite thing in the new catalog.  The colors and patterns are such a beautiful mix of masculine and feminine.  If you flip through the book, you’re greeted with bright pink florals, polka dots and intricate patterns.  Turn the book over and flip through it again.  On the other side, you see masculine blues and greens with hints of yellow.  The paper stack give me a new outlook on the 2012-2014 In Colors.  These colors are right out of the closet of a preppy teenager in the 1980’s.

Here’s a card I made with this paper:www.stampwithbrian.com - Thank You

So, there you have it.  The Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack is my favorite thing in the new catalog.  A close second?  The Oval Collection Framelits, also featured here.

The Fringed Oval.  To create this look, I cropped an oval in the Gumball Green and Very Vanilla paper.  Starting on one end of the oval, I snipped tiny, thin strips in the paper.  You have to start angling the snips as you round the corners (there are no corners on an oval, yet you know what I mean because you and I are SO on the same page).  Be careful to never let your snips cross over, or you’ll end up with a chunk of oval missing from your design.  After I added the senitment with Stampin’ Dimensionals, I flicked the edges of the fringed oval to give it texture and depth.

Stamp sets:  Curly Cutes  Papers:  Midnight Muse, Gumball Green, Very Vanilla, Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack  Inks:  Midnight Muse  Accessories:  Ovals Collection Framelits, Paper Snips, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Thank you for stopping by my blog today.

  1. 6:30am and Nary a comment! Allow me to be the first! It’s really my spot anyway! 🙂 Love the is DSP pack and what you’ve done with your paper snipping skills again!

  2. I really really need to be careful since I get overwhelmed with “Gotta-haves” when a new catty comes out . I do so like the samples because that helps me make better decisions after I see the “real stuff”…. I am so glad you are kinda giving us hints about what`s coming because that`s exciting and helps with those of us that try to set budget guidelines. This card is really cute with it`s little fringy thingy…aren`t you talented and steady of hand!!!! Happy after Christmas Day!!!!

What interesting new DSP! And your creative snipping around the new oval framelit is really an eye-catcher! (And that says a lot for my sleepy “day after Christmas” eyes!) I can’t believe I still haven’t been able to pour through the new mini-catalog. Every time I try to do so, something else takes precedence!
It’s quiet here in the house, but our grandson is fast asleep in my card room & I wouldn’t dream of tiptoeing in there. So, thank you, Brian, for your daily previews!
