A BIG THANK YOU & A LOT TO CELEBRATE

As we wrap up 2012, I offer you a huge THANK YOU! The fact that you log-in each day to read all the words I write (except for that one day when you were lazy and just looked at the pictures) makes me the happiest guy in the world. I have really had a great time with Stampin’ Up! and with my blog this year, and you have been so kind to consistently show your appreciation. What would I have done differently? This sounds trite, but – absolutely nothing. I hope to get to know you better in 2013 and to find more readers and to take on more projects, but I’m so happy where I am right now.

Today I want to take you on a walk down Memory Lane – wouldn’t it be great to live on a street by that name?  Incidentally, it would NOT be great to live on Elm Street.  Easy Street would be nice.  Oooh!  Rocky Road would be absolutely delicious!  Where did I just go?  Anyway, before I wax poetic about 2012, I want to fill you in on some great things that JUST happened:

  • In case you missed it, I was just named a Guest Designer for The Paper Players.  For the first 6 months of 2013, I will (along with a panel of other card makers) design weekly inspirations for the card challenges over at the Paper Players.  On Sundays, they host color challenges, theme challenges and layout challenges.  You can check out the announcement (along with a mug of yours truly) by clicking here.
  • On Saturday (just before the Meet the Guest Designers post, my submission to the Snowflake Theme Challenge was selected as A Cut Above by Helen Heil.  What an honor to be recognized.  I am still thrilled.  You can see the announcement here.

OK, so now, the retrospective of 2012.  Here are some of favorite moments.

Above all other things, I love to take an object or shape and turn it into something it was not intended to be.  When I am successful at using a stamp in a way it was not intended, I am happiest.  Here are some of my favorites from this year.  You can click on the image to see the original post.  Enjoy!

  1. Your cards Brian are all Stunning! Interesting how the first card above is from the archives, but I thought it may be a celebration for New Years..given the chrysanthemum flower looks like Fireworks here to me. Maybe you featured it at July 4th and I was not here at the time. I’m thinking it’s pure genius to give it first spot on today’s parade of cards. Happy New Year my Friend!

    • Hey Patti, that card was designed for July 4. I dreamed about that flower. It is a great concept for a January 1 card. Happy New Year to you, too!

    • I thought the same thing Patti – without looking too deeply my imediate thiught was oh – fireworks! Lovely. And Happy New Year Brian, Patti & everyone elso who follows him 🙂

  3. Well, that Betsy`s Bloom card is what brought me to hang out with you on your blog. When Betsy`s Bloom was released I have never seen so much overkill !!!! I thought SU wanted to show how well the new stamp pads performed with that image…but it got to be boring …until I happened to stop by a blog I had never visited STAMP WITH BRIAN … it was so original and creative I had to come back for more !!! And I became that cat that appears on your doorstep and you mistakenly feed and they come back everyday !!! I love every card you do and I am so excited that you are with The Paper Players….they know talent when they see it !!!! Also love what you did with that sunshine card because that peacock yells at me every so often “Pick me pick me ” and I am stilltrying to figure out what am i going to do with all those feathers…the Thanksgiving turkey thing was not so great….later

p.s. Incidentally, I lived at 66 Elm Street for several years when I first moved to Thunder Bay, ON where I still live! It was a beautiful place to live, but the significance did not escape us and it did make for an interesting topic of conversation. Since we were discussing street names… 🙂
