Above and Beyond…Sent with Love

Well, folks, Valentine’s Day is over.  Over the past several weeks, we’ve seen red hearts, blue hearts, pink hearts and brown hearts.  Hearts, hearts, hearts.  Are you about heart-ed out?  Me, too!  I still have some Valentine’s Day projects backed up in my brain, so please be patient with me if some of them make it to paper over the next couple of weeks.  I might try to disguise them as wedding cards or birthday cards for a loved one, but you’ll know they are just belated Valentine’s Day cards, right?

Now that we got that out of the way – let’s move on to today’s project.  I ordered the Sent With Love Designer Series Paper the minute it was released February 1.  I couldn’t tell if I would like it, but I ordered it anyway.  As luck would have it, I absolutely love the paper!  There are several patterns that are travel-themed, and there are other patterns that are versatile and beautiful.  The colors featured in this DSP are:  Island Indigo, Calypso Coral, Real Red, Pool Party and Whisper White – a beautiful combination.stampwithbrian.com - Above & Beyond

I love the look of this airplane print as a band on the card.  It reminds me of a preppy fabric belt with palm trees or horses on it.

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Note cards.  It’s no secret that I really love Stampin’ Up!’s set of Note Cards & Envelopes found on page 160 of the current annual catalog.  Measuring at 5″ x 3-1/2″, these note cards are smaller than a standard card but are still mailable and perfect for a quick note.  I wish I could send each of you a thank you note to show you how much I appreciate you.
  • Layering DSP prints.  This DSP features some great prints that pair well together.  The prints layer nicely with one another, but it’s important to make sure the images don’t clash.  I used two pieces – one that has a detailed Calypso Coral print with a lot of Whisper White and one that has a solid Island Indigo background.  One is detailed, and the other is solid.  That’s why they look so good together!  There are a lot of “solid” prints and a lot of “detailed” prints in this collection – make sure you pair them appropriately, or I’m going to come snatch that paper out of your hands.
  • Don’t forget the envelope!  The envelope is the first thing the recipient of your card will see.  Make sure it’s not drab and dull.  I added a panel of the Island Indigo DSP to the flap of the envelope and trimmed carefully around the edge of the flap.  I added a little Calypso Coral heart to the flap to add a little treat for the recipient.  How adorable!stampwithbrian.com - Above and Beyond

  5. This is so cute. I like what you did with the envelope. I have looked at this set of stamps and paper but, not sure I wanted to get it . It is different and reminds me of the old Air Mail envelope look from years ago . Now, you have made me wonder if I should add that to my “To Get” list .
I do wish SU would give us larger examples of the DSP instead of just side views. This is the first I have seen of the cute airplane design in full view Guess that`s what the demo blogs are all about, huh?

    • Sonny, Are you in my brain? I intended to add a photo (Stampin’ Up! provided it to us yesterday) of the pages. I added it to the post. Still doesn’t give you a GREAT idea, but it’s better than the slivers. 🙂
