There’s a special craziness that comes with obsessive crafting. I have embraced it whole-heartedly, and I imagine you have too. As torrential rains pour over Atlanta (reported tornadoes, too) we are stuck in the basement with no power. I am writing this post on my iPhone.
So, here’s the deal, I procrastinated making the card I planned to share with you today, putting it off and putting it off. One more set of swatch books, and then I promised myself I would work on your card. Then the power outage. My first thought? How will I get a card done for my post tomorrow? How silly is that?! Did I worry that these winds could rip the roof off my house? No. Was I concerned that Bandit might be scared and all alone upstairs? Not at first. My mind went straight to my blog post and how I would get my project completed. Yikes!
So today’s post, then, has a couple of important elements:
– a reminder that we should always make our cards first – don’t procrastinate.
– you don’t need a beautiful, new card to appreciate my blog (right?)
– crafters are very special people
While you are here, remember there’s a one-for-one swap going on. Always fun! You design it. You make it. You swap it. How easy is that? Details are on Tuesday’s blog post. Please check them out!
Thanks for stopping by my log today!
Brian

Praying you are all safe and the lights come on soon! Don’t want anything to spoil in the fridge! No posts necessary…this time; ahem, since you DO have a good excuse…LOL! I do hope all turns out alright for you all, Brian! Hugs and prayers!
We are all good here. The power has been out since about 8:00 last night – longest I can recall it being out for a thunderstorm. Fingers crossed it will be back up this evening when I am back from work.
Be careful driving to work if the street lights aren’t working. Knowing you there will be two cards tomorrow. lol
Please stay safe, Brian! (Bandit, too.)
I enjoy your posts for your great creative cards and more importantly your incredible wit. Thank you for your commitment to your daily posts, they start my day in a beautiful direction.
No Problem-o! Hope you have survived the weather! I’ve decided I guess this weather pattern of Rain Every Day is just what it’s going to be. No one else has big hair either! 🙂
Yikes!! Brian, the storms that ripped through my neighborhood headed your way on Wednesday night. We had a really bad experience here, definitely a first for me. Our house was shaking by the fierce winds that snapped 3 big Colorado Spruces in my back yard like toothpicks, another 4 of them were uprooted and now they are just laying on the floor, really a sad picture. The news said that the winds were about 80 m/h it was pretty scary. Now the clean up it’s on it’s way and it will take a few weeks for all of the trees to be removed. I hope you and Bandit are ok, that’s the most important thing of all.
You shouldn’t worry about not having a card for us today, the fact that you were thinking about that with the storm baring down on you tells us how much you care and believe me, we care for you just the same.
Stay safe!!
Maria.
How sweet that you sat there and typed it out on your iphone though! What dedication. 🙂 Hope you and Bandit are safe and well. I know my female cat (Muppet) hated thunderstroms and used to hide under the bed or in the hall where there were no windows. Bless. I’m sure your next card will be well worth the wait xx
It is enough for us to know that you and Bandit are safe, but thank you for thinking of us–we know you will make it up to us with a fantastic project. Glad you came through the storm fine!
While severe storms are ripping through Atlanta, you are always thinking and putting others first. I have come to the conclusion that’s your nature. Please take your safety, Mom’s and Bandit’s first and foremost. Here in Ohio Wednesday night we had the potential of the same situation. We did have rain, wind and a spectacular light show, but no damage of any kind. We were fortunate. Go 20 miles north or south of us and severe damage. I do hope that you don’t have any costly damage to your home. Regardless of a card or not, you know I read your blog daily. It is a pure joy to start my day of with a daily dose of Brian. 🙂
So glad you are safe! I enjoy your posts – card or no card; they provide a wonderful way to start my day.
That monster storm hit here in N.C. late yesterday afternoon. Trees down everywhere and power out for many people . Fortunately everything fared well where I live . I went through Hugo many years ago and it was a major problem here.. It was very destructive I lost trees and fencing and part of my gutters and was without power for two weeks .
I am glad you and your furry friend are safe . I understand we are in for some storms this summer so buckle up and load up on batteries so you can make cards in the basement while the power is out. And thank you for thinking of your “groupies” in your time of peril .
Oh dear, not good! I am glad you are safe and the storms are clear. I was headed to Atlanta today to do some shopping since it was my birthday. Hmmm…may want to rethink that afterall. We had some bad ones here last night but we never lost power.
Glad you’re okay even if you don’t have power. Who else but you can write an entertaining blog post with no errors (at least I didn’t see any) on an iphone? I can’t even send a three word text without errors on mine! I hope your weekend is less exciting.
Happy Birthday Sharon !
Hope you and yours are safe and that the power is back on. Thanks for blogging to us in such horrid conditions. My new mantra will be make cards first!
Thanks for thinking of us. Stay safe!
Glad you are safe… I talked to my mama yesterday who also lives on Atlanta, she too had no power. I live in Wichita now, but I will always be a southern girl! Love your posts and the daily inspiration, thanks
WOW Brian – you typed out the entire blog on your Iphone? I am thankful that you are all O.K. Now, why would you have to go to work when there isn’t any power? That’s taking a huge risk with traffic lights out, etc. Anyway, I’m glad you and Bandit are O.K. and I hope you make it through the summer without anymore scary storms. We often lose power here in winter so we are equipped with a generator but it’s still no fun. No power means no internet or cable TV service so even with power to the house via the generator I still don’t have the ability to use my computer. I have to admit these days that I think I am addicted to it. You take care.
Stay safe, Brian! We can live without one of your beauties for a day :).
As a side note, thanks for the “share” I received. Everything came thru the USPS PERFECTLY because of your efforts making sure everything was packed tightly. Am a “newbie” so had really no idea of what to expect but was I ever thrilled! THANK YOU so much.
Prayers for protection Brian. Take care of your sweet mother and yourself first. All who love and respect you will understand! Sending positive thoughts your way.
God Bless,
Gigi in Walla Walla
Mom reports that the power is still off at home. I am at work (just 4 miles away) with a fan blowing in my face and full computer access. Yeesh.
I completely understand as I am the Queen of Procrastination! I actually work better under pressure and often the results are some of my best work. I am planning to do the card swap…my first ever…actually it will be my first SU anything ever other than making cards to send. Looking forward to it!!! You are such an inspiration!
First things first, Brian! Although we look forward to your postings, we totally understand that you can’t always post a card! The weather has truly been a major problem for so many people. Be safe!

It was a scary time in Georgia last night. The black clouds and torrential rains didn’t stop my stampers from stamping. Even when the power went out, everybody whipped out iPhones and turned on their flashlight apps and the card making continued. Priorities! One stamper even held my shaking Shihtzu puppy in her lap and continued to work. Gotta love all crafters. Glad you are ok.
I totally get what your going through. I’m in Oklahoma, as I headed for the tornado shelter with my family. our dog and our important papers — I wondered…should I take my big shot or favorite stamp sets. We all had our phones but only one area of the shelter recieved reception. In the end I had my priorities straight . But the thought of no stamp sets, die cuts,!!!!!!!! Yikes!
Take care of yourself and your mom first. One day without a card– we still have so many to remember. I still love the one with poppies and saved it to my computer. We will all still check your post. We love your cards, humor and your post about what life would be without pool party. Have a great day.
LOL!! You have the best posts, with or without a card! I love reading your blog for the sheer wittiness of it! Be safe Brian!!
Glad you are safe. I volunteer for the Red Cross and just returned from helping 2 people who can’t go in their house because of the huge trees that fell on top of them. One is a trailor and it looks like a pancake! I am in North Carolina and it was a whopper last night – except at my house, luckily!
I sincerely hope that you AND Bandit survived the storm and winds…horrible weather back there! I am sort of surprised that you left Bandid on his own and didn’t bring him down with you into the basement….but as long as you are both safe and your house and roof are still there and no big trees crashed into you…..thank you for the email about your situation. Looking forward to better news from you!
