When I first laid eyes on the Holiday Catalog, I was excited about some of the stamps and products that can be used for gorgeous holiday cards. When the holidays are over, though, it’s important to still be able to use some of them, right? Harvest of Thanks, one of my favorite things in the Holiday Catalog released on August 1 (see my post here), has a couple of Thanksgiving/Fall stamps and a some are versatile enough to use outside of Autumn. Here’s a fresh take on one of the distressed stamps from Harvest of Thanks:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- My New Go-To Color Combination. I’m not saying goodbye to the Pool Party-Calypso Coral color combination (a go-to favorite of mine for quite some time), but I am IN LOVE with this combination of Coastal Cabana and Tangerine Tango. I love how the crispness of Coastal Cabana cools the heat from the Tangerine Tango. Just add some Whisper White, and you’ve got all you need.
- Tags as Accents. I really love the Tag a Bag Accessory Kit that premiered in the 2013-2014 Annual Catalog. Have you seen it? An assortment of tags and accessories, the kit is a perfect accessory for the Tag a Bag Gift Bags and Gift Boxes. These tags can also be used in other projects. I used a white tag with Tangerine stripes as an accent for this card. Yippee for versatility!
- Building the Sentiment Layer. Speaking of versatility, I love how this Many Thanks sentiment doens’t have to get stuck in Thanksgiving-land. I stamped the image twice in Tangerine Tango and once in Coastal Cabana. I trimmed around the layers to re-build the sentiment as the focus of the card.
Stamp Sets: Harvest of Thanks Inks: Tangerine Tango, Coastal Cabana Papers: Tangerine Tango, Coastal Cabana, Whisper White, Eastern Elegance Accessories: Tag a Bag Accessory Kit, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Candy Dots (Neutrals)

What a color blast ! I like the Coastal Cabana and I need to go ahead get a new Color Coach to see some color combos using it . You are a master at sentiment display . Thank you for showing this sentiment used in another non holiday way . I always look at the way I can use my holiday stamps in other non holiday ways . Happy Friday !!
I could use a new Color Coach also, Love these two together so Happy! Love this layout did you do that all yourself? Marvelous!
Yippee for Many Thanks all year round!! Yet another bold color combination from you Brian!! I like how you off-set the sentiment, right-justified the stripey banner, and left-justified the DSP!!! Many thanks to you for sharing such a fun card this Friday!!! 🙂
Love, love this color combination!! and the way you snipped out the sentiment. It’s great to be able to use some sentiment stamps in other ways than their original purpose. Way to go, Brian.!!
Good morning Brian 🙂
What a fresh and happy card this is. Speaks nothing of Thanksgiving yet everything . I will def be adding this stamp set to my collection now that I have seen we can wear the same slacks, just a different top 🙂
Here’s to you, your morning blog and my cup of coffee. //hugs//
Now that is a fantastic card! I too love your color combo and I would never know that your sentiment is from a Thanksgiving set! Very clever as always! 🙂
Really like this card, Brian. The colors are great and I love that your work is always so “tidy”!
I am in total agreement with everyone……..great combo. Reminds me of sunrise and sunset colors. All the different color hues of blues and oranges in a naturally beautiful picture. Especially in Key West, absolutely gorgeous! There are some pretty spectacular ones here in Ohio too.
Brian—let me keep this simple. You’re the bomb!!
Your eye is amazing….and your snipping abilities.
Such a cute and bright card for a currently dreary SoCal Friday!
You’re so right on with this color combo. It’s so crisp and clean – beautiful!
