Make Me Smile & Sneak Peek

You’ll be receiving your copy of Stampin’ Up!’s Occasions Catalog soon.  I’ve said it before, but I think it’s worth repeating – it’s gorgeous, and you’ll love it.  Stampin’ Up! demonstrators are able to order from the catalog early (December 1) so that we can begin sharing projects with the new products.  Today’s card shares two things from the new catalog:  color inspiration and an incredible embellishment.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Color Inspiration.  When I sat down to design and create cards this past weekend, I hadn’t yet received my pre-order (the demonstrator perk I mentioned at the beginning of this post).  While today’s card does not use Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper (a new paper in the Occasions Catalog), I patterned my card colors after this DSP.  While I substituted Baked Brown Sugar for Naturals Composition Specialty DSP and Very Vanilla for Whisper White.  This combination of colors is magical, don’t you think?
  • Naturals Compostion Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I’ve found several ways to use this paper, but one of the designs has flowers in the bottom, right corner and notebook paper lines on the rest.  I’ve never been able to figure out how to use the striped paper.  Why not make it the base of the card?  Viola!  I really like how it takes a backseat to the rest of the card but still adds a special touch to this card.
  • Essentials Wooden Elements.  I love these little guys!  Chevrons, arrows, banners, hearts, circles…and more.  All of these elements easily embellish a card, scrapbook page or other project.  I added a Tangerine Tango heart to further embellish the card.  Below is a closeup view of the arrow element, which is used on the cover of a notebook we received at the Rising Star Retreat.  Please note that my name is written on the arrow with an Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Maker.  Totally groovy, huh?  Also included here is Retro Fresh Designer Washi Tape.

Stamp Sets:  Hello Lovely  Papers:  Naturals Composition Specialty Designer Series Paper, I Am Me Designer Series Paper, Coastal Cabana, Whisper White, Tangerine Tango  Accessories:  Tangerine Tango Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Essentials Wooden Elements, Small Heart punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals
