A Few of my Favorite Things: the 2014 Occasions Catalog

By now, I hope you’ve had a chance to flip through the New Occasions Catalog to soak up all the beauty within those pages.  As a demonstrator, I’ve been soaking up its beauty since November.  This catalog is filled with wonderful stamps, incredible papers and bundles that you can’t pass up.  I have some definite opinions about the products that are now available for you to buy.  Today, I am sharing my favorite items from the 2014 Occasions Catalog.  Without further ado, here they are:

BUNDLE 1:  PERFECT PENNANTS BUNDLE

If you have been paying attention (and I know you have), you already know that my single most favorite item from the Occasions Catalog is the “Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful” stamp from Perfect Pennants.  Yes – I love the sentiment, but I really love the artistic way in which the words are designed.  Gorgeous!  All of the sentiments in this set are wonderful, and the banner framelits are super-handy.  This is the must-have bundle in this catalog.  And don’t forget – these sentiments don’t have to be featured in a banner to make them shine.

BUNDLE 2:  JUST SAYIN’ BUNDLE

I love the Just Sayin’ Bundle – just sayin’.  The sentiments are great, and the framelits make them useful in almost any design.  Place these cropped sentiments over a gorgeous Designer Series Paper background or over a couple of strips of washi tape, and you’ve got a great card!

PUNCH:  ANGLED TAG TOPPER PUNCH

I don’t know everything there is to know about current trends.  I do know that chevrons and hexagons have been really big in the crafting industry for a while.  Tags are a big thing right now, and the tag topper punches in the Occasions Catalog are a great way to add a tag to a card OR – you’re about to be amazed by my creating ingenuity – to make a tag.  These toppers are really easy to use – you won’t regret getting one (or both) of these punches.

KIT:  HAPPENINGS SIMPLY CREATED CARD KIT

I’m not a huge consumer of card kits – because they are designed to appeal to different styles, kits often include a mix of products I love and don’t love.  This kit, though, is a treasure – a true keeper.  I love the patterns on the papers and punch outs.  The heart, the circle and the banner are all adorable.  I really love this kit.

PAPER:  FRESH PRINTS DESIGNER SERIES PAPER STACK

Let’s be honest with one another (I always speak with an honest tongue, so I am relying on you to listening with an honest ear) – I love paper.  I love the colors and patterns of all the Designer Series Papers in the Occasion Catalog, but I love size of Designer Series Paper Stacks, and I REALLY love the variety of patterns in this stack.  There’s a small selection of colors (Real Red, Coastal Cabana, Crumb Cake and Whisper White), but the patterns can be used for just about anything.

ACCESSORY: NATURAL 5/8″ CHEVRON RIBBON

I really love the natural chevron ribbon – while it’s soft enough to grace almost any greeting card, it’s sturdy enough to be used to tie a beautiful package.  The colors are beautifully subtle, and you can’t help but run your finger over this textured ribbon.  Win, win!

I hope this summary has either confirmed your thoughts about some of these wonderful items or inspired you to look at some you hadn’t seen before.  I’m gaga for this new catalog and love nearly everything inside its pages.  What are your thoughts?  What are your favorites?

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

  1. Nice Choices Brian, mine are a bit different but nice as well. I really like the Peaceful Petals stamp set on page 20, I think this flowers are beautiful. The other set I like is the cute Baby We’ve Grown, on page 28, this Owl family is super cute, the baby shoes are darling and the little bunny, adorable. The Water Color Wonder DSP is hard to resist so, I might brake my own rule and just get it.
Thank you for sharing your choices, I can’t wait to see what great things you will be making with them.

  2. Good choices ! I like your Framelit choices (both) because they are mega versatile . I tend to go for punches…embossing folders ….and of course any Big Shot item. I am seeing a lot of demos going for the dsp paper stack . I am glad that my Brian`s Shares will be in my mail box soon so I can see the real “stuff”. That way I can decide on my dsp and that Fresh Prints stack .
Thank you, Mom for looking after Bandit !

  3. It’s always interesting to see what other peoples favorites are. For me I love the Sprial Spins set on page 29, the Chevron border punch on page 28 and the Vivid Vases stamp on page 20. Eventually I hope to own them all. Meanwhile I just keep looking and looking and looking at the new catalog and wondering what SU can possibly come up with next.

  4. Some of your favorites are mine…the Perfect Pennants Bundle and the Fresh Prints DSP. Also love the Baby, We’ve Grown Stamp Set and the new vellum. Have fun with it all!
