Sweet Treats for The Paper Players

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, The Paper Players have challenged us to make a project with a “Sweet Treats” theme.  As I set out to design my Sweet Treats card, I perused my stamp sets to find the right set.  Let’s see – cupcake…cake…cupcakes…cake…the sweet treats kinda’ stopped there.  That’s when my design changed to a Sweet Treats 3-D project.  Here’s my design for Anne Marie’s challenge:

And here’s the challenge banner from The Paper Players:

In today’s post, I will share my steps for making the box that is, by the way, filled with a bag of cinnamon hearts and adorned with a cute tag.  Come back tomorrow when I will share the other item with the same image on it.

  • Decorating the Box.  I decorated a Decorative Window Gift Box with Real Red card stock and a piece of striped Crumb Cake paper from the Calypso Coral Celebration Add-on Kit (an add-on the the Celebration Basics Kit).  While I like the circular design around the window sheet center of the box, one of the Circles Collection Framelits dies fits right around the circle, so I cropped both sheets with the framelit to create the perfect peek-a-boo to the candy inside.

  • Tag Shapes.  The tag on the side of the Decorative Window Box is cropped with the Angled Tag Topper Punch and stamped with images from Love you to the Moon (I’m going to cover some tips and tricks about this in tomorrow’s post).  To give a little shout-out to the flames coming out of the back of the rocket, I cropped a Banners Framelits Die and added it to the bottom of the tag.Love You to the Moon, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PP181
  • Bag it up!  All decked out in Real Red and Crumb Cake, this decorated box holds two hours worth of cinnamon hearts – who doesn’t love cinnamon hearts?  The hearts are bagged in a white polka-dotted cellophane bag from the Twisty Treats Kit, one of the items available during Sale-a-Bration.

  9. Oh Brian, Brian, Brian – you never cease to amaze me! What a fab Valentine’s gift for anyone to receive! I can’t think of anyone that doesn’t like the cinnamon hearts and having them in that great little box with the special bag packaging, tag and matching card is fabulous. The only problem I can see is that if I were to receive it I might not want to open the beautiful box or empty the bag of it’s goodies – I’d want to put it away for “special”!

  10. okay, others have already said so, but i have to chime in and say, “way to go with the moon detail!” that is adorable and really makes the entire sentiment so much more fun!
