Today’s project features a large, orange flower and a beautiful, orange background. Orange, orange, orange. Orange you glad you stopped by to check it out? Ha! Ha! Ha! Please hold while I pick myself up off the floor so I can continue to share today’s project. Here’s today’s card that was inspired by this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge:
And here’s Linda Callahan’s sketch that inspired my project:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- A Layered Flower. This flower (from Simple Stems) is designed with three distinct layers. I stamped the flower once in Tangerine Tango and then again as a second-generation image (stamped off once). I cropped the flower three times and placed the second-generation image in the middle.
- A Repeat Performance. I cropped the center of the flower one more time and included it as the base of the sentiment banner. While the flower is pretty by itself, it serves double duty by introducing a callback to the original image.
- Pairing the Card with an Envelope Liner. The principle color in this card is Tangerine Tango. It also includes a couple of pops of Daffodil Delight and highlights of Gumball Green. To add interest to the envelope liner, I steered clear of Tangerine Tango and went for the Gumball. It helps to pop the right colors out of this card to keep the recipient from orange-overload.
Stamp sets: Simple Stems, Fabulous Phrases Papers: Tangerine Tango, Gumball Green, Whisper White, Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper Inks: Tangerine Tango Accessories: 1-3/8″ Circle punch, 1-1/4″ Circle punch, Little Leaves Sizzlits, Hexagon punch (to crop the banner tips), Stampin’ Dimensionals
Thanks for stopping by my blog today! I hope you enjoyed today’s project.
