Smile for a Special PPA Celebration

The Pals Paper Arts is celebrating its 200th challenge this week.  Woo hoo!  To honor this milestone, all 20 Design Team Members are participating in this week’s sketch challenge.  Woo hoo!  On top of that, we have all made a monochromatic card (one color with white or vanilla).  With 20 cards in 20 colors, this week’s post is a rainbow of beautiful projects.  I hope you’ll check them out!  But first, here’s my card:

Happy Day, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PPA200And here’s Margaret Moody’s sketch that inspired my card:

PPA200(2)Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Extended Sketch.  I have flipped sketches by turning the sketch on its side or by turning it upside down.  For this sketch, though, I transformed this portrait layout into a landscape layout and simply stretched the sketch horizontally.  In the end, it’s just a shorter, wider version of the inspiration sketch.
  • Without Borders.  I really, really, really wanted to add thin borders of card stock around each of the panels on this card.  I like layers – so sue me.  Once I laid down these panels of DSP, I really wanted to surround them with a very thin border of black or white, but I decided to let them be.
  • An Extended Banner.  I was super-surprised when I found out the Banners Framelit die fit snuggly around the stripes of this Designer Series Paper.  Score!  I cropped the striped panel underneath so that the center of that panel would coordinate with the center of the banner.  Looks like one continuous piece, right?

Stamp Sets:  Happy Day  Papers:  Basic Black, Whisper White, Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper  Inks:  Jet Black StazOn  Accessories:  2-1/2″ Circle punch, Circles Collection Framelits, Banners Framelits, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll check out the other Design Team projects here and that you will participate in this week’s challenge.  One participant will be selected to receive all 20 of the Design Team cards.  Woo hoo!

Thanks for stopping by today!
