Creating “Wow” Borders: a Follow-up

Last weekend, I shared a video that demonstrates how mats and borders can really change the look of a card.  If you missed the video, please check it out here.  I encourage you to play around with paper and create varieties of borders that suit your taste.  Regardless, today I’m sharing the six card fronts I used in my video and am including the measurements for each layer.

On all of the cards, I’ve used Lost Lagoon, Blackberry Bliss and Whisper White.  While the center piece (with the sentiment) is always 1-1/2″ x 2-1/2″, I will always restate that measurement when sharing the width and length below and will work my way out from there.

Layer Two (Blackberry Bliss) 1-5/8″ x 2-5/8″

Once again, there  are millions of options for borders around a simple sentiment.  These are just some of the examples I came up with.  You are welcome to copy my measurements (that’s why I shared them), but I really encourage you to play around with the layers to find the ones you like best.  Add 1/2″ or 3/4″ to the previous layer and build layers to your liking.  Scroll back through these examples and ask which ones stand out to you?  Which of these border configurations do you like the best?

Thanks for stopping by!

Brian
