Live Well, Laugh Hard, Love Big

I’ve had a couple of “favorites” since the catalog was released in June.  Today, I’m happy to combine two of those favorites in a single project – this page from Maritime Designer Series Paper and this sentiment from Oh My Goodies.  I don’t know that these two were “meant for each other” but they certainly pair well here.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Beach Tie-in.  I understand the “let’s go to the beach” tie-in seems a little weak here, but I was truly inspired by the theme.  From the first moment I saw this sentiment, it reminded me of a wall-hanging you might find in a rustic beach house.  Oh, and these colors just scream “beach” to me – and not just because they are featured in the Maritime Designer Series Paper.
  • Sailor’s Knot – Not.  Here’s a great idea – tie a sailor’s knot with White Thick Baker’s Twine as a tie-in to the beach theme.  After referencing an online site that teaches knot tying, I successfully tied a couple of great knots (I can probably tie up a boat now), but the knots were teeny-tiny.  I decided, instead, to tie-off knots on three strands of the twine.  The White Thick Baker’s Twine, by the way, comes as part of the Tag a Bag Accessory Kit – I like the tags but HAD TO HAVE the twine and clips.Oh My Goodies, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, CCMC310, PP203
  • Coloring on Stamps.  I’m not the worlds’ greatest stamp painter (I know, I know, it’s hard to believe that I’m not the best – but I’m sure someone is better than I), but I enjoy it every once in a while.  With my Stampin’ Write Markers (Night of Navy, Coastal Cabana and Real Red), I took my time painting the borders and words, swiping over the letters one-by-one in one, solid stroke.  A couple of big huffs on the stamp to re-moisten the ink, and the sentiment was ready to be stamped.  Super-simple!Oh My Goodies, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, CCMC310, PP203

I really like that Maritime DSP, mostly because it’s so very masculine. I think your little knots made all the difference in this card and your diagonal placement of the knots is perfect.
