When I was first introduced to the awesomeness that is Blackberry Bliss, the introduction went something like this:
ME: BIackberry Bliss, these are my eyeballs. Eyeballs, meet Blackberry Bliss.
EYEBALLS: Wowzers! [pops out of my head with cartoon-like springs]
I knew Blackberry Bliss would be the perfect color for Spring, Winter, Fall and Summer. Early on, I pegged it as a perfect color for Halloween. Fab Friday is rolling out a new color combination this week – Basic Black, Tangelo Twist and Blackberry Bliss. Instead of traveling down Halloween Boulevard with these colors, I’ve opted to create a bright and bold project. Here’s my 5″ x 5″ card:
And here’s the color combination that inspired my project:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Croppin’ the Dahlia. I do love to use my paper snips – the more detailed the snipping project, the more I love them. After I smudged the left edge of this Dahlia with some black ink (why did I have black ink on my finger?!?), I decided to salvage the snipping I’d done and just cropped off the edge of the dahlia. I wanted her to lay over the layers but opted to let her rest inside the inner most layer. Let’s hear it for happy mistakes – and time-saving smudges. 🙂
- Blackberry Bliss Candy Dots? I really, really, really needed three Blackberry Bliss Candy Dots to balance the objects on this card. As you know, though, we don’t sell Candy Dots in the In Colors. No worries. I ran a scrap of Blackberry Bliss cardstock through my Cupcake Builder punch. Easy as pie (blackberry pie).
- Apothecary Accents Framelits. This sentiment fit nicely inside the Apothecary Accents Framelits. If you don’t have these shapes, give them another look-see. To add to your excitement, they are 25% off this week – through Monday only – as part of this week’s Weekly Deals. Check out the Weekly Deals at the base of this post.

I love the blackberry bliss too. Why didn’t you colour the Dalia in some way ? Cool idea with the ” candy dots” , need to remember that !
Some of my best work has come out of creative ways to fix a blooper…amazing…really like your card!
Like your card ! That Blackberry Bliss is perfect for this time of the year cards and you did good with using that color combo .
Happy Friday !
Great card, Brian. I used the Blackberry Bliss card stock and ink this week, too. I had a little smudging as well. My BB pad was pretty juicy! Love everything about this card plus you’ve reminded me I do have that Framelit set. Wish I could send you a piece of that Baker’s Square Blackberry “Bliss” pie 😉
Gorgeous card. Love the dahlia!
Hi Brian:
One of the reasons I love stamping is that there is almost always a way to fix a card if you mess up. Not so easy with a quilt. I don’t think I’ve ever thrown a card away because of a goof, instead I just add another layer. 🙂 Really nice job with this card. By leaving the Dahlia uncolored it really does make it pop. You have a great day!
Old scrapbooking saying: “It isn’t a mistake. It’s an opportunity to embellish.”?Sometimes a mistake leads us down a different, happier road. Love the card!
I like the combination of colors as you’ve used them in the card–I would have struggled to incorporate the black but you’ve done it perfectly. Again! May I add a software saying regarding the dahlia and the smudge: It’s a feature, not a bug!
Great snipping and a Fab card!
Super job Brian, your card is beautiful. I think Blackberry Bliss is such a versatile color that’s appropriate for any season or occasion. Side note I prefer blackberry cobbler, yum.
Great job saving the dahlia! It looks perfect uncolored and cropped! Love the Confetti Celebration DSP too…I tried it on my card, just couldn’t get it to play nice with the other elements! TFS!
What a ”happy” mistake, love this gorgeous flower behind the sentiment. First I thought “why didn’t Brian colored this flower?” but the more I looked at this card, the more I love that you left it white. Coloring it would have taken the impact of it against this fabulous color combo. Love Blackberry Bliss, LOVE IT!!!
Have yourself a fabulous weekend!!
Love that you kept the dahlia in that blk/wht combo; as others have said, it actually made it stand out and yet, not so “busy”. TFS
The more I see that Blackberry Bliss, the more I’m liking it–who would’ve thought that it’d go well with the orange?!
Gaga-gorgeous card!
