A Happy Thing – Part 2

Yesterday I shared a fun, fresh card with a stamp set and Designer Series Paper from Sale-a-Bration.  Who doesn’t love sneak peeks, and who doesn’t love to earn free products?  Well, I also know you love card dimensions and instructions on how to achieve certain looks, so I’m back today with additional information about how you can recreate cards similar to the one I shared yesterday.  I’m going to provide you with the dimensions of the card components and give you a quick-and-easy tip for creating the slanted Designer Series Paper you see in the background.  Before we move on, here’s the card I shared yesterday:

CARD COMPONENTS AND DIMENSIONS

I created this card for a card swap, so I had to cut multiples of each of the layers.  Here are the components of the card, along with the measurements of each layer:

Base Layers:

• Pear Pizzazz:  4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
• Daffodil Delight: 4″ x 5-1/4″
• Whisper White:  3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″
• Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper:  3-3/4″ wide (2″ tall on left and 3″ tall on right)

Top Layers:

• Pear Pizzazz:  2-7/8″ x 4-1/8″
• Daffodil Delight:  2-5/8″ x 3-7/8″
• Whisper White:  2-1/2″ x 3-3/4″
• Lemon and leaves snipped from Pear Pizzazz and Daffodil Delight

I just love to create the “infinity” look when I make multiples of a card.  Please think of this as my gift to you:

INSTRUCTIONAL FOR CROPPING AT A SLANT

Put your math hat on because I’m about to walk you through how I created a uniform slant on each of the cards:

STEP ONE:  Mark the cut points on the left and right side of the paper strip.  In this example, I used a 3-3/4″ strip of paper and cut from 2″ on left to 3″ on right.  I used Post-it “sign here” arrows to mark above and below my cut lines at 2″ and 3″.

STEP TWO:  Cut the paper by lining up the points in the Trimmer.  I cut just above and just below the two arrows, lining them up along the groove in the cutting mat.

STEP THREE:  If you have a pattern that looks the same upside down, you can quickly crop out another without having to measure the slant again.  Flip the remaining piece around and crop a straight base with the right side at 3″.  That’s two identical pieces for the measurement of one.  It’s like a BOGO (buy-one-get-one) deal.  Woo hoo!

STEP FOUR:  Sit back and smile at how you kinda used Geometry to create a cool look that can be replicated with precision.  Math is great!
