Stampin’ Up!’s Snuggles and Smooches

It’s getting cold outside, so this white, cable knit pattern from Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack really called my name as I sat down to make a sweet Valentine’s Day card.  This pairing of Basic Gray, Rose Red and Whisper White create the perfect combination of colors to create a warm and sweet project.  Here’s my card:

Snuggles and Smooches, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Layout Inspiration.  When I was designing this card, I used the tip I shared with you in yesterday’s video (see it here) to create this layout.  I used neutral pieces, punches and crops of paper leftover from other projects to create a layout with this Snuggles and Smooches sentiment.  I use neutral pieces so that my sketch doesn’t define the colors I select.  Once all the pieces were in place, I knew I needed to balance them a bit with a sprinkling of Rose Red candy dots.
  • Photopolymer Stamp Sets Not in the Catalogs.  Each month, Stampin’ Up! releases new photopolymer stamp sets that aren’t featured in the printed catalogs.  If you blink, you might miss them.  Snuggles and Smooches was introduced late last year – and this one is PERFECT for Valentine’s Day, so you might want to check it out.  Want a visual of all photopolymers available by Stampin’ Up!?  Please click here to see them in my online store – you may have missed some you need.  🙂
  • Color Combination.  I love how Stampin’ Up!’s color cycle.  Rose Red has likely sat on your shelf for some time, not really getting the attention it deserves.  Well, it’s all over the projects in the Occasions Catalog this year – to remind you how much you love the sophisticated, yet flirty, color.  It’s all grown up when paired with white and gray.  If you like this combination, too, please feel free to save this:Color Inspiration, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

  1. Hi, Brian! How does one find out about the non-catalog stamp releases? Are they on the SU! Website in a specific place? Or are they mixed in with the rest of the stamp sets?

    • Go to online store – then stamps and then photopolymer!

    • I included a link to all the photopolymers that are currently available, but that includes the stamps that are also in the catalogs. I don’t have a way to isolate the non-catalog stamps right now but I’m working on it. Thanks!

  2. Love this card Brian!

  3. Perfect patterns for this sentiment! Love the layout too!

  4. Great colour combo and design. The cosy sweater look goes with the snuggles for sure!

  6. PERFECT! love the combination of these products. Narrowing down the knit piece of dsp really helped me see how to use it.

  7. Brian – you are so right (as always)! I had completely forgotten about Rose Red and when I checked my stash I found I have a ton of it (well, not really a ton but a lot)! I think the coup-de-gras of this card is the use of the Rose Red candy dots in the upper left corner. It really brought it all together. This card is definitely a winner. Love it.

  8. very professional looking. you are such an inspiration! watched your video. thanks for the tips. starting out IS the hardest thing for me.
