You’re Simply Wonderful

I’ve really fallen head-over-heels for the Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum Stack, one of the new Sale-a-Bration items in March.  Today’s project features a different pattern from the same stack.  The card also features two other Sale-a-Bration stamp sets: Nature’s Perfection and Simply Wonderful.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Pop of Vellum.  While the sentiment and butterfly are the “focus” of this card, the beautiful pattern of vellum offers a beautiful backdrop.  I colored the backside of these leaves with a Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Marker – and colored some of them over and over for a darker shading.  Along with the top Basic Gray panel, the vellum is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals, which gives the vellum a little more vibrancy.
  • Paired with a Punch.  Nowhere in the literature does the Nature’s Perfection stamp set say that it coordinates with the Elegant Butterfly punch, but it does!  This stamped, punched and popped up butterfly is the perfect accent for this card and this sentiment.  I tried the butterfly in all three colors (Basic Gray, Pear Pizzazz and Pool Party) and decided the Pear Pizzazz butterfly was the perfect accent.
  • Color Combination.  You already know I love gorgeous combinations of colors.  All three of these colors have a tinge of gray in them – Basic Gray, Pear Pizzazz and Pool Party – so they look wonderful together.  I used this same combination in another card that features this vellum (see it here).  If you like this color combination, too, please feel free to save this off:Color Inspiration, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

  1. Nice card and I wondered about that butterfly working with the punch. But I must comment on your comment about “the tinge of gray”. I had not really thought about that before but all do have a “tinge” of gray and go well together. Same with lots of other colors too. They all have a “tinge”. I will have to remember that. 🙂

  2. Such a beautiful, peaceful card, Brian. Love it!

This card is “wow”! I really like your use of color and texture (vellum). The Pear Pizzazz looks much like one of my all-time favorite colors, River Rock. This card is a keeper!
