Wishes Your Way for FMS182

There’s all kinds of excitement about the Butterflies Thinlits – after a long hiatus (during which they were on backorder), they are back and ready to fly into your arms.  OK, maybe the idea of a bunch of insects flying toward you isn’t THAT appealing, but I suspect you understand my point.  🙂  Stampin’ Up! is offering a wonderful incentive for you to buy the Butterflies Thinlits – and I’m throwing in my own incentive (more on that later).  I couldn’t help but to bring out my Butterflies Thinlits for today’s Clean and Simple card for Freshly Made Sketches.  Here’s my card:

Butterfly Basics, Stampin' Up!, Butterflies Thinlits, Brian King, FMS182

And here’s the challenge banner that inspired my project:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Vintage or Clean?  Today is the first ime I’ve ever inked up my Butterfly Basics stamp set.  It’s one of a few sets in the Occasions Catalog that’s offered in clear mount, wood mount and photopolymer.  While the set could easily be considered a vintage set, I was super-charged to make a clean card with this set.  The simply framed sentiment is beautiful and clean.  I love it!
  • Frame it.  All of the white and yellow elements on this card are framed with a thin border of Mellow Moss card stock.  It really helps those layers to pop.  Without the Mellow Moss strips down the side of the Daffodil Delight strip of All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack, the strip would just melt into the white layer – this helps it pop and helps to brighten the strip even more.
  • Unexpected Color Combination.  I pulled these three colors directly from the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack, and I love them more than I could have expected.  If you like this pairing, too, feel free to save this:Color Inspiration, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

  1. Hi, I love this clean card Brian, love all your work actually. (I think you mean Mossy Meadow though). Great colour combination.

    • Doh! You are right, Naomi! I always write Mellow Moss when I mean Mossy Meadow – I was tired last night and wrote my post while watching a movie. It’s corrected now, so nobody else will notice…

  5. Good Morning Brian:

I kind of took a few minutes to actually study this card and you are so totally right (gee, that really wasn’t a surprise), the Mossy Meadow – although used minimally – really does make the DSP & white card stock stand out. To be honest, I never thought about what a huge impact such a small border has.

I told the hubs that this card proves that Spring has Sprung! I know you used butterflies on your card but I thought flowers because we surround our cabin with
yellow flowers and some pink lilacs every year. This color combo is so “spring like” that you have to smile when you see it.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend and spend lots and lots and lots of time with your sweet and beautiful Mom. Hugs!

  6. Lovely Spring/Mother’s Day card, beautiful combination of colors and yes, the Mossy Meadow really makes a fabulous frame for this beautiful DSP.
    Enjoy your Sunday. 🙂

  7. Beautiful card this morning, Brian. I’m loving my Mossy Meadow paper too!

  8. I loved your card the moment I saw it! The colors/papers are fabulous and it is the epitome of springtime! Thanks for sharing with us at Freshly Made Sketches.

I will order my Thinlits now. Thank you!!

  10. This definitely has spring written all over it! I LOVE the colors you used too. Such gorgeous results! Congrats on being one of this week’s winners over at Freshly Made Sketches!
