Grateful for You for PPA263

This week’s Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge pairs the wickedly bold Tempting Turquoise with the deepness of Rich Razzleberry and the softness of Pear Pizzazz.  Does it get any better than that?!  I opted for a bold, graphic card with these super-happy colors and toned them down just a bit with accents of Basic Black.  Here’s my 5″ x 3-3/4″ card:

Merry Everything, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PPA263

And here’s the banner for the PPA challenge banner that inspired my card:PPA263

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Merry Everything.  Merry Everything is a wonderful carryover from last year’s Holiday Catalog (available in this year’s Annual Catalog).  From Halloween to Christmas and everything in between, this set offers great sentiments that pair well with the Note Tag punch – and other shapes, as well.  In the Annual Catalog, this set is offered in a bundle with the Note Tag punch (great deal!):

  • Tags & Labels Framelits.  I just love the selection of sizes in the Tags & Labels Framelits – there are SIX of each shape – and we can build them as layered as we want or skip some sizes to change up the frame on our sentiment.  I cropped the sentiment on white paper and the next size up for the border of black.  I created a frame around the central base of the card front with a matching width of black.

  • Mask, then Marker.  The word “you” in this stamp set is designed with detailed stripes on the lower half of the word.  To create them in different colors, I masked the bottom half of the word with painter’s tape and inked the rest of the sentiment with Archival Basic Black ink.  I pealed off my tape and used Stampin’ Write Markers to add color to the remaining stripes.  Turns out the stripes of color on the word matched up with the width of the stripes in the paper, so I added two strips of paper (Rich Razzleberry and Pear Pizzazz) to my card front to mimic the stripes I created in the word.  If you’d like a review of masking, check out my video here.
