Knew You Could…

When I saw this week’s Can You Case It? sketch challenge, I immediately reached for Everyday Chic Designer Series Paper.  I’ve often times reached for this pattern of stripes but had never used it – until today.  I colored this black-and-white Designer Series Paper to get the balance I wanted.  Here’s my card:

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Everyday Chic Designer Series Paper.  This is a must-have paper, and if you don’t yet have it, you need it.  I’ve colored it with markers and inked it directly with my ink pad.  The black-and-white patterns are perfect on their own, but they exceed perfection when you can add your own colors to create your own customized papers.

  • Sponge Daubers and Post-It Note Tape.  To color in the rows of white lines on this Designer Series Paper, I used Sponge Daubers and Post-It Note Tape, which can be found at almost any store where office supplies are sold.  I placed the tape over the parts of the paper that I didn’t want to color (isolating the area I wanted to sponge over) and then swiped the ink solidly over the entire area.  I simply moved the “guard rails” when I switched colors and sponged away at each row.  So easy – and quite fun to transform the paper.

  • Cheery Color Combination.  For a “you inspire me” card, you need cheery and fun colors.  This combination of a bright blue, a bright green and a bright yellow were a perfect combination for the card I wanted to make.  If you like this combination, too, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up!
